I am not speaking of a screen, but it seemed like TRich was pretty wide open in the flats on quite a few plays. If Weeden can't make a simple dump pass, then hate to bring it back up, but there was no reason to draft his ass. That is just pathetic.BR1986FB;1270841 wrote:a) I'm skeptical that Weeden could consistently make that pass and b) I'm skeptical that Richardson can elude a defender. This might be one of the ONLY teams in the NFL that can't consistently pull off a screen pass.

They have failed to complete a screen pass....it doesn't matter who's at running back. When I played in college, we ran tons of rb screens...it really isn't that hard of a throw!

Yeah, this isn't Weeden "specific." Seems like these morons have had issues effectively running screen passes for years.OQB;1270878 wrote:They have failed to complete a screen pass....it doesn't matter who's at running back. They might be able to actually get the pass off and completed with a TON of wide open real estate in front of them but then either a) the dumbass back runs straight towards a defender who makes the tackle or b) the butthead O-Linemen run right past the guy who they are supposed to block who makes the tackle.

You forgot to mention Hardesty ducking away from passes thrown to him and then look at Weeden in shock that a ball was thrown his way.

anybody else think that weeden and richardson's styles don't mesh well with each other? sure, its only one (albeit disastrous) week, but its something i worried about since the draft

i guess that i don't know if weeden will ever be the prototypical qb of a power running gamePick6;1270971 wrote:not sure what you mean by this.

Got you, and I think you have a point. Weeden comes from the Air Raid at Ok State and Richardson comes from the pro style that Alabama runs. I've always considered Weeden to be a product of the system (see Graham Harrell, Chase Daniels, Zach Robinson). Weeden has to adapt to the pro style offense for it to work, because, even though he is fast, I dont really picture Richardson as the type of shotgun or third down back.dazedconfused;1270981 wrote:i guess that i don't know if weeden will ever be the prototypical qb of a power running game

Also, let's not forget Weeden was throwing to 2 first round WR's in Dez Bryant/Justin Blackmon and in the Big 12 where defense is optional.Pick6;1270995 wrote:Got you, and I think you have a point. It was one game people. Jesus.
The most retarded thing about that game was the fact he got trapped under a fucking flag.

i was at the game and there were several plays were weeden checked down and threw to backs. one play really stood out he dumped off to marecic who dropped the pass. down field ben watson was at least 30 yds in clear waiving his arms .BR1986FB;1270813 wrote:Can't we have a "happy medium?" All McCoy wanted to do was check down and it seems like all Weeden wants to do is wing it down the field. Have no issue with stretching the field but until Weeden can prove he can consistently make those throws AND the receivers can get open, some intermediate stuff wouldn't hurt.

Sadly, everyone in the stadium except for Weeden saw that.....a complete busted coverage and an easy touchdown.KnightRyder;1271410 wrote:i was at the game and there were several plays were weeden checked down and threw to backs. one play really stood out he dumped off to marecic who dropped the pass. down field ben watson was at least 30 yds in clear waiving his arms .
