How about that throw boys???
Damn 5 penalties already. Typical undisciplined Shurmur squad

The three guys I'm impressed with tonight are:
Phil Dawson: reliable Phil can always count on him to get us on the scoreboard...and I must say I have really polished up my "counting by 3's" since 1999.
Reggie hodges: glad he is back and healthy!
Travis Benjamin: impressed with his speed and hands for being a rookie.

I don't think I ever heard a resolution on this topic from months back... is Shurmer still calling plays, or did he hand that over to Childress?

After the worst offense in team history Shumur is still calling the plays. Thank God for a new owner, because now we will have credible football people in charge that will not allow a travesty like that to occur anymore.Mulva;1244447 wrote:I don't think I ever heard a resolution on this topic from months back... is Shurmer still calling plays, or did he hand that over to Childress?

Well that wasn't fun. I don't need the Seneca show, so I'm probably done with this one. Preseason means nothing. 1st preseason game means less than nothing. But here are the meaningless takeaways I got from tonight:
- Josh Gordon is raw as hell. More raw than Little was last year.
- Benjamin looked good. I have serious questions about his durability, but he could be a deep threat in 3-4 wideout sets.
- Schwartz looked awful. I think (and have thought) that a lot of people think this o-line is a lot better than it is. Mainly I don't think it's good up the middle (Mack is solid, but both guards are bad), but if Schwartz struggles at all or (god forbid) anything happens to Thomas it's going to devolve from possibly average to a trainwreck.
I don't see anything to judge on the defense, since the middle of it didn't exist. No way to get any kind of read when Taylor, Rubin, and DQ are all out, other than to say that we still have no depth.

Plus half of the "passes" in his system are essentially extended handoffs anyway. He's a fucking retardOQB;1244472 wrote:Haha it's a passing league now what does he expect...smh

He must have dirty photos or something of Holmgren that he used to blackmail him into giving him the job. How else can you explain a guy who's offenses were 28th and 26th in total offense in his only 2 seasons as an O-Coordinator suddenly getting a head coaching gig? Something smelled there as he was not qualified for the job.ts1227;1244473 wrote:Plus half of the "passes" in his system are essentially extended handoffs anyway. He's a ****ing retard

Just remember the saying...."It's not what you know, it's who you know!!"
The NFL is all about the buddy system and getting your guys in with you...whether they know what they are doing or not.

The alarming thing is that it really doesn't look much different than last regular season. Same play calls/retarded dump off passes, shitload of penalties, and injuries galore. Oh, and we still can't tackleCommander of Awesome;1244481 wrote:We look like shit, but its preseason.

Too bad regular season games won't allow us to have our 3rd string beat their 3rd string all second half.ohiobucks1;1244503 wrote:All we do is win!
Well, it may after our first team falls behind by 50.

weedens ball down the side line to travis benjamin was beautiful, haven't seen that in cleveland in a long time. his fumble he was hit from behind and stripped and his interception he just threw a little to far to left when throwing to little. not making excuses for the dude, but the oline played like shit. i am a little surprised he only played three series though.. massaqoui is a bitch, first offensive play laser to him, he catches it, gets hit, and booom out with a concussion. jordan cameron looked like a stud, i think he will be a playmaker for us. gordon look absolutely lost. it was nice to see hardesty with some nice runs. pounding it up the middle, haven't seen him run it like that while in a browns uniform. colt didn't look bad, but he was against 2nd teamers, the was still checking down but did take a few shots down field.
weeden averaged 20 per completion 3-9 62 yards 1 INT
colt averaged 14 per completion 6-8 88 yards
defense looked decent. held lions to 0 points i believe. tj ward nice to have that dude back, notice haden didn't play that much, im betting the team knows something that we don't. jackson and rubin didn't play.brown did have and INT vs stafford. miavia was horrible tackling, the defense as a whole, and stephns number 96 plays RE, he missed so many damn tackles, same shit different year.to many damn injuries though. cameron went down, patterson went down. never fucking ends. we did give up 115 yards rushing in the 1st half.
