[h=6]Terry's take on Colt. Can you find the lolfail?
Terry Pluto
[/h][h=6]Glad Shurmur simply said the obvious and named Weeden. Colt has to understand he can have a long NFL career as a backup if he plays this smart and stays ready.
Colt is not the first QB (or person) to be demoted and think he didn't get a fair shot. Life doesn't always seem fair...talk to all those who have been laid off the last 5 years.
We all should be demoted and paid 550K.
I sill remember my dad being laid off after 30 years in the grocery biz in the 1970s economic slump. He went from a supervisor to out the door.
And that really wasn't fair to him or the others laid off with him.
And bottom line: Weeden is far more talented and the Indians must see what he can do with the 1st team.
Colt also should know that only once in 1999 has a Browns QB played all 16 games (Couch, 2001).

I am not going to gloat because this is not a surprise to me.As for McCoy, cue iggypride's post, can't wait to see it!
I have been telling all those that would listen for months now the kid is a drama queen and needed to be cut.
It is just sad that so many people were in denial about the guy and chose to mock me instead of opening their eyes to see what I and many others have known for a while now.
Management needs to get off their ass and get him out of town pronto. This was never going to work, and leaving a cancerous malcontent like him around to poison the locker room is the height of stupidity.

As sad as it may seem, Weeden would probably be the best starter in that rotation. smhlike_that;1241308 wrote:Terry's take on Colt. Can you find the lolfail?

I would like to know what hold the guy has over some people though.
Even over on the OBR (where I would think they know better) there are people who think we should be keeping him around as a back-up regardless of how much drama he brings with him.

Colt is just naive if he ever thought he had a shot at starting. He's younger than the guy they just drafted. I think Weeden will do a little worse than what Dalton did last year but will be far better than McCoy. I still think they should have grabbed a top wr this year and got the big time qb next year but can't blame management for what they did. Will be some good games between the gingers next year.

Weeden's career will be shorter but I think he'll end up better than Dalton. Dalton, to me, is similar to McCoy with a better surrounding cast. Put him on the Browns last year and I don't think he fares much better than McCoy.Terry_Tate;1241325 wrote:Colt is just naive if he ever thought he had a shot at starting. When Kirwan & Ryan were at Browns camp, a caller called in saying they should've rolled with McCoy. They pretty much laughed him off the air. They said if you're not a Weeden guy, come on out to training camp and you'll change your tune.IggyPride00;1241324 wrote:I would like to know what hold the guy has over some people though.

BRF-
Have you heard of any plan to get rid of McCoy before the season, or is the plan to keep him as the primary back-up?

I'm assuming you're referring to me? I think they will try to showcase him, somewhat, so that if a starter goes down they might be able to get SOMETHING for him.

Off topic but I heard the NFL will have their first female referee during preseason......
Roethlisberger had to get special clearance to play.

I wouldn't go that far, Dalton has a much better arm. I do think Green made him look a lot better, and defenses started to catch on to him after they got some film, but I can't see the McCoy comparison. I would say a better version of DA, but I don't think that would be fair either.BR1986FB;1241327 wrote:Weeden's career will be shorter but I think he'll end up better than Dalton. Dalton's arm is nowhere near as strong as DA's. Dalton is more of a WCO dink & dunker although Green did bail Dalton's ass out a lot ala Braylon Edwards/K2 bailing out DA in 2007.like_that;1241336 wrote:I wouldn't go that far, Dalton has a much better arm. yeah once teams got film on Dalton last year he went downhill. i don't think he is their answer to a franchise qb. he will be average at best. AJ Greene is an absolute freak and helped dude out big time.

Yeah, Dalton has a good arm so that is a tough comparison. I think any qb would have struggled with the browns lack of talent last year

Exactly why I was thinking of the DA comparison lol.BR1986FB;1241339 wrote:Dalton's arm is nowhere near as strong as DA's. Dalton is more of a WCO dink & dunker although Green did bail Dalton's ass out a lot ala Braylon Edwards/K2 bailing out DA in 2007.
Anyway, I hate playing the "I've seen him live card," but just put it this way, I went to both Bengals/Browns games last year, and there was a significant difference between Dalton's and McCoy's arm.

If DA and McCoy combined their bodies, would they make a good QB?

Green bailed Dalton out some last year no doubt. But the game tape being part of the reason for his slide is weak. Them going from facing weaker defenses to tough defenses at the end of the year had the most to do with it.
Still though, I think Dalton and Weeden will have similar careers. I could see how people think Weeden has more potential, but remember, if Green bailed Dalton out, it helped Weeden out throwing to the best WR in college football last year.

I'm not sure on that one. If you would've asked me in 2010 I would've leaned toward "yes" but McCoy's accuracy is not what was advertised. His leadership skills in DA's "box of rocks" head would be great coupled with DA's physical skills. Don't know if Colt's good old boy/aww shucks Southern boy attitude could keep up with Snow White's party habits though.like_that;1241349 wrote:If DA and McCoy combined their bodies, would they make a good QB?

Every time I see someone post "DA", this Deadspin article by Drew Magary comes to mind. Not related to anything important, but it makes me laugh
