I do not. I do expect more competitive play and aggressive game management, however.like_that;1226532 wrote:Do you expect a winning season this year?

I see where the Browns passed on the new "85% capacity" rule so unless home games are 100% sellouts we could be seeing a few blackouts this year.

Anybody see trichs interview he did with sto at his football camp? It was on all bets are off and they asked trich what our record would be. He responded. Playoff hunt, we will be in the playoffs.
Thought it was kind of neat. Can't remember the last player in a browns uni to say that.

I have a browns backers question. Do you have to be a member to show up and go the bars they watch the games at? I am thinking they probably have a private room or something...

Depends on which bar, but in my experience (4 different browns backers bar) don't have to be a member to watch. You usually get deals on drinks and food at the bar, eligible for prizes, and a t shirt/cup for being a browns backer member tied to a bar.OneBuckeye;1226550 wrote:I have a browns backers question. They probably sold out the games, thus why they passed up on it.BR1986FB;1226542 wrote:I see where the Browns passed on the new "85% capacity" rule so unless home games are 100% sellouts we could be seeing a few blackouts this year.

Thanks, this is in San Antonio. I've been the bar before and they have private rooms where I watched the last UFC PPV. All I could find was the leaders contact info and their FB page which didn't provide much information. I will probably just show up the first Sunday and play it by ear.Commander of Awesome;1226552 wrote:Depends on which bar, but in my experience (4 different browns backers bar) don't have to be a member to watch. You can become an independent Browns Backer with no affiliation. They might give you the same benefits at their location, who knows? I joined for free and I'm not affiliated.OneBuckeye;1226558 wrote:Thanks, this is in San Antonio. I've been the bar before and they have private rooms where I watched the last UFC PPV. No I don't. And when it doesn't happen people should be held accountable. Not given a pass because "we're young".like_that;1226532 wrote:Do you expect a winning season this year?

John Clayton noticing our young offense (though no mention of the OL, which is also young):
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8168191/cleveland-browns-make-right-call-go-young-offense
[INDENT]
When the Browns selected Josh Gordon in the second round of Tuesday's supplemental draft, they made a total commitment to go young at wide receiver.
Gordon is 21. Greg Little is 23. Fourth-round pick Travis Benjamin is 24. Mohamed Massaquoi is 25 and in the last year of his contract. Carlton Mitchell is 24 and will fight just to make the roster. Throw in 21-year-old running back Trent Richardson and you can see that the Browns will be green at the skill positions this season.
The only age issue is rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden, who turns 29 in October, but he'll have four seasons to prove his worth.
History tells Browns fans to be patient. Teams have been successful going young at the skill positions, but in most cases, the growing pains hurt them in the first year.
In 2009, there were several examples of franchises going young on offense. The most successful were the Eagles. Running back LeSean McCoy and wide receiver Jeremy Maclin were 22. DeSean Jackson was 23. Tight end Brent Celek was 25. The Eagles went 11-5, but they still had Donovan McNabb, who was 33 at the time.
The comparison that might match the Browns would be the 2009 Oakland Raiders. Weeden won't be as bad as JaMarcus Russell, but his experience level fits the model. Russell was 24 and in the third year of a disastrous career. He was working with 25-year-old tight end Zach Miller, 23-year-old running back Darren McFadden and wide receivers Darrius Heyward-Bey, Jacoby Ford and Louis Murphy, who were all 23 years old.
That Raiders team finished 5-11. Since then, Russell has been replaced and the young receiving group has developed enough to make the Raiders an 8-8 team the past two seasons. This year's Browns? I think 5-11 or 4-12 seems reasonable. (See my early projections for AFC North teams.)
In 2009, the Bears were young with Earl Bennett, Matt Forte, Greg Olsen and Johnny Knox, along with a 26-year-old Jay Cutler at quarterback. They ended up going 7-9. The 2009 New York Giants had Eli Manning trying to break in a young group that included Ahmad Bradshaw, Mario Manningham, Steve Smith, Hakeem Nicks and tight end Kevin Boss, all 25 or younger. They went 8-8.
Going young is the right way for the Browns to go, but it will take time for everything to come together.

I don't think Gordon will be of much use until the 2nd half of the year. WCO pass routes are pretty detailed. I see them using him mostly on 9 routes and jump balls in the red zone until he learns the system.

Hmm, sounds like Carlton Mitchell. Hopefully Holmgren wont let Patty Boy waste him away on the bench.BR1986FB;1226711 wrote:Saw that.

Carlton Mitchell has had the benefit of a few years in the league and didn't take a year off to smoke the wacky weed.Commander of Awesome;1226727 wrote:Hmm, sounds like Carlton Mitchell. Hopefully Holmgren wont let Patty Boy waste him away on the bench.
I think they will use Gordon like the fast kid from Baltimore who can run a 9 but can't run a polished route to save his life. He'll need some time to learn the system. I just get the feeling the Mitchell is "Twitter smart/football dumb."

I've always sort of felt about Mitchell the way I felt about Jerome Harrison. Hard to tell how good the kid is when he doesn't play. In training camp Harrison always stood out as a superior runner to Jamal Lewis following the 07 season, but for whatever reason never saw the freaking field. He finally saw the damn field and tore it up. Fucking coaches not willing to let rookies play, Patty boy wasn't able to do that with Little bc Heckert didn't give him a chance (cut all the WRs and he's a 2nd round pick). Something tells me he could/should have easily started over fucking robiskie and saw the field more than he did. Hell he's barely even played in the preseason (he was a player I always looked for and rarely saw the field). It could be bc he sucks, but with that height/speed he should have been out there more than he was. Granted I don't expect him to catch 40/50 balls but 20 catches could easily be had last season (if McCoy threw the fucking ball that is), and he's an athletic speedy tall WR the other team has to account for. I've seen enough from MoMass, he doesn't have it. Just my opinion.

And another........DT Phil Taylor, sidelined with a tear in his pec could be
ready to play in 10 weeks

‏ @ LaneAdkins
@ jmuss67 ......Taylor is doing remarkably
well, it could be 10 weeks from now

Sounds like a huge case of OPTIMISM regarding Taylor injury, but told it
wasn't as serious as D. Jackson's pec tear

I don't recall reading much on Wynn and Hughes from the early camps, I hope one of those guys can emerge and make an impact this season.
