I don't think that happens if Mangini is working with Savage collaborating on guys that fit Mangini's system. Savage traded for Shaun Rogers & Corey Williams who were square pegs (4-3 guys) that Savage, who panicked, tried to fit into round holes (3-4 defense).

eh...I feel like that would be a patchwork solution much like the Delhomme signing. That would mean one of the QB's would probably have to go. Do you get rid of Colt or Senaca in that situation?

Hasselbeck hasn't played all 16 games since 2007. 08,09 and 10 he was awful in Seattle, but he was also banged up and the team was pretty poor as well. He was having a nice '11 until he and Britt went down to injury and the Titans look like they may want to go forward w/ Locker. Not sure I'd be overly excited to bring him in. Only thing you could count on is that you better have your back up ready, because he hasn't been able to stay healthy for a while. When healthy, he probably gives us better QB play than we've had, but I'd be worried if we don't add some weapons on the outside he might look more like he did those last 3 years in Seattle than he did last year w/ the Titans.

As soon as Irsay said they were rebuilding, the chances of Manning getting that payment went out the window. It would just cost the Colts way too much in cap hits over the next 2 years. It's the Tressel & Luck era in Indianapolis.

Foles is actually well thought of as a developmental type QB. I would think he's def on the Browns radar in the second round.

I don't feel like reading all 52 pages of comments, so I may ask some questions that have already been answered. Please bear with me. I catch on quick.

What does everyone think of just trying to keep building around the quarterback position? Not necessarily building around McCoy... but he does still have 2 years left, and I think he can be a serviceable NFL QB.

I may just be a McCoy Apologist... but is it really fair to make an evaluation of him, until they have a line that can protect him and receivers that can catch?

I really don't like how QBs get thrown in the fire right away, and they're expected to make an immediate impact. And if they don't, they're labeled as damaged goods. How many starts did Brady Quinn get... like half a dozen?

Didn't Troy Aikman start out 1-15? Colt only has 21 starts... it just seems like rookie/younger QBs barely even get a full NFL season to prove themselves anymore.

If they keep adding pieces around the QB position, McCoy will at least have gotten a fair shot... and if he doesn't pan out, then his successor will be inheriting a better team.

Isn't it insane to think that they can bring in another QB, and expect him to win right away with the same cast?

I recognize the upside with RG3. He's very intelligent. He's a world class athlete. He'd probably sell a ton of jerseys.

But can he make Cleveland a winner again?

I don't know if he's ever really read a defense. The injury concerns are legit. Is it worth givving up the #22 pick, to move up to #3 or #2, to get him?

Why take an unconventional quarterback in the top 5, when you have no #1 receiver, no depth on the line (Thomas and Mack are legit, the rest of the OL is a mess), and big questions/concerns about the starting RB (not much ddddddddddddddddddddepth at RB either).

I guess what I'm saying is, and it may be a radical concept... but drafting a QB and then building around him hasn't been working for the Browns... probably because they never follow through, and they're always in the inbetween rebuilding phase. But maybe they should try building the team first, and then finding a franchise QB that fits their system.

I really like Justin Blackmon. I can see the similarities between him and Michael Crabtree. That might cause people to be a little leary. Blackmon catches everything though, and he's great after the catch. He may not be as polished as A.J. Green, but he'd still be an upgrade and an added dimension to Cleveland's offense... if they can get him.

What do you guys think? Blackmon? RG3? Richardson?

Board is split on McCoy. No matter what we need that position to play better.

Most ppl on here go 6 to midnight over RG3. I'm unsure, waiting for combine numbers.

I'm not a fan or either Richmond or Blackmon at #4, terrible valule there. I think Blackmon is the 3rd or 4th best WR in this draft and a total reach at #4.Most on the board act like Blackmon is next Larry Fitzgerald which he isn't. He's the next Crabtree or Boldin.

However in this case you have a chance to draft a once in a generation franchise quarterback, and that's something that's hard to pass up. As I've said before, I see RG3 having the potential to develop into a faster Aaron Rodgers. You rarely see guys come out with all of the tools and make no mistake about it, this kid has them. The problem with building the rest of the team first in this situation is getting to that 7-9, 8-8 range where it would be tough to find a good QB. Rarely do you see quality QB's taken in the middle of the 1st round (Steelers and Packers getting lucky with Ben and Rodgers). So the point is that you can't just hope to build the rest of the team and expect to get Barkley next season because you likely won't be picking high enough to get him anyways.

If the Browns pass on RG3 they will be criticized and rightfully so, and we as fans will have to watch yet another draft pick the Browns passed on go on to have great success. And trust me when I tell you, this one would be the biggest miss of all.

It's been said before, they may not HAVE a chance to be this high in the draft again. If Barkley goes #1 next year and the Browns are selecting 10th with only one 1st rounder, are they to sell the farm then? The QB may fall to them at #4 without even trading up. Pieces CAN be put in place around that QB while still selecting him at #4.

There were only 11 starting QB's this year that were drafted in the top 10 of their draft.
