In 1993 Harvard signed their current coach to a contract paying $75,000 a year (he was making 112k at ironically cincy)

i've been saying this same thing on this one, (and the "JJ" version) in the past...Brian Kelly may have bitten off more than he can chew with the ND administration in place. He may end up in the same place as Bob Davie, Ty W., and Chollie W.....................that is the odds on bet in Vegas.
If he gets a chance at the helm of another school after 4 more years of .570 football, he'll be fortunate.

Having looked through your wiki evidence, why do you think that because Harvard has more endowments than ND that they have more money to spend on a coach? Do you know what an endowment is? Most of those endowments are for students and professorships.

I would believe that coaches salaries for the football team would be paid out of what the team brings in, through the athletic dept. Your assertion, unless you can provide the proof, that because Harvard deals with more money that they can spend it anywhere they want, is a bit misleading. They have budget and line items like anyone else and just because they have a billion dollars, doesn't mean they could offer a coach a billion a year if that money is already spoken for and assigned for other purposes.

So....do you have the information on harvard's athletic dept concerning their available budget for the football team?

Actually I did just some (your) homework and found out harvard's atheltic dept is slashing things left and right lately due to economic times. No more hot breakfast for atheletes, travel has been toned down, they closed some facilities, they turned some sports like basketball and baseball to intremurals....but yea...harvard with its checkbook is going to pay an ivy league football coach more than notre dame....yea.

The schedule was watered down this year with an experienced team and look what happened with 3 potential 1st round draft picks at QB and WR.

ND in 2010 will have 6/7 Losses. Even with that watered down schedule.

Since when did revenue mean anything? Look at profit, you know, the money they have after all expenses have been paid. Looks like Texas has the most money to pay their football coach, and is CLEARLY backed up by Mack Brown being the highest paid coach in college football.
