I think it was only the 5th on a QB. So that excludes the Massaquoi and Cribbs hits, and Im not sure on others, I dont watch all the Steelers games.

Maybe this will give Harrison time to go snake hunting. This is my favorite Harrison quote of all time lol.

[LEFT]Harrison, who lives in a suburb north of Pittsburgh, has come to Arizona to heal and train after back surgery over the winter, and he is bored and antagonized by the desert. “There’s snakes out there. I grabbed a rattler by his tail and threw him over the fence last month.”

You grabbed a rattler bare-handed?

“Had to,”
he says. “My son was here visiting, so that bitch had to bounce out. ASAP.”

only thing worse is the timeout before a field goal(milliseconds before he kicks it)...IMO this shouldnt be allowed...

Didn't they draft Braylan Edwards and Kellen Winslow etc, etc?

Why? so a QB shouldnt be allowed to call a TO with the play-clock under 3. Defense should be allowed to call a TO last second if they see they have 12 on the field? That is stupid. A TO is a legal part of the game, you cant just decide when a team can and cant use them (sans, back to back TOs).

It works just as much as it backfires (miss then make) though, so who really cares?

He only got a 1 game suspension? 5 time repeat offender gets suspended for one game, yet suh gets 2 game? What Harrison did/has done was worse than Suh’s half hearted (though thuggish) stomp. Commish just isn’t consistent.

Suh's was an after-the-play event, as opposed to an illegal during-the-play hit. I think most leagues are far more concerned with anything that goes on after the whistles than rough and/or illegal stuff that happens as part of a play. Like, take the X-UC basketball game from the weekend. People are wanting Yancy Gates' head on a platter for throwing a sucker punch at Freese. But if it was a brutal foul during the game (like completely blasting a guy w/o going for the ball when he's in midair) instead of a punch after a play, the only way people would even care for more than 3 minutes is if that foul directly led to a fight. And even then, it wouldn't get the same outrage. He'd be kicked out of the game and might have to sit one or two out if the school, league, NCAA intervenes, but there wouldn't be the "ONLY SIX GAMES?!?!? FUCK THAT...WE WANT BLOOD!" reaction.

A Yahoo blog I read said that this is actually breaking new ground, as no one has previously been suspended for a helmet-to-helmet (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/James-Harrison-has-been-suspended-for-one-game;_ylt=Ap_uKId80N9J.NqaoGOcETo5nYcB?urn=nfl-wp13800).

Webfire, I agree 100% that the defenseless player fouls are 10x worse then the helmet to helmet calls. Its almost as if you're just supposed to let the WR catch the ball, and brace for the hit before you touch him..its stupid

Suh's and Harrison's recent suspensions are not comparable, not even close.

Yeah...the Browns trainers will get a suspension too.

Former Buckeye...the assassin would have racked up some suspensions.

First player in 25 years to be suspended for a tackle on the field. The suspension is uncalled for. A hefty fine would have been more appropriate.

Harrison gets my vote for the dirtiest player in the NFL. If the NFL was serious about limiting injuries they'd kick him out of the league. That, and the roids is an absolute disgrace to college football.

The NFL call helmet-to-helmet no matter who or what position.
I don't think so.

Players are banned from using any part of their helmet or face mask to "butt, spear or ram an opponent violently or unnecessarily," according to Rule 12, Section 2, Article 8 of the NFL Rulebook, except when going against a runner who isn't considered a defenseless player.

I think he is dirty, but the bigger problem is that he is dumber than a box of rocks. He doesn't get it....so he won't change.

If they are going to flag players for "defenseless" positions, then they need to start flagging for those players with the ball, who are on the ground already (such as catching it and accidentally falling to the ground), and preventing the defender from driving a helmet, shoulder, and body into the player. This is almost the most defenseless position one can get on the football field. It doesn't take much to just touch the player down. Nobody needs to project themselves like a missile into the grounded player.

Until they do something about that, the others are solely to protect franchise players (particularly the QBs and WRs).

I would've just fined him. $50,000....donate money to the charity of Colt's choice.

I hope he plays about 3 more seasons, hopefully another Super Bowl ring, get another hit that draws a large suspension (but hurts no player) and he retires right there, tells Goodell to kiss his ass.....and then does it again 5 years later during his HOF speech.

I think these hits might hinder his acceptance into the HOF.

Possibly my biggest problem aside from the explosive hit.......why the fuck didn't Colt slide? Aren't quarterbacks taught to slide feet first to avoid getting mauled in such situations? You'd think you would abide by that recommendation and maybe even more so with a crazy guy coming at you.

Yeah, for sure.......but 2 or 3 more Pro Bowls and another defensive POY or another SB Championship would offset many things.

Been a lot of dirty players make the HOF.
