It happened at a traffic stop. Not a "shooter" situation, just an idiot with a gun that didn't wanna get arrested.

How did media overreact?

There was a shooting near Virginia Tech. That's how the media reported it. Virginia Tech was on lockdown. A Virginia Tech police officer was shot and killed.

Doesn't seem like an overreaction to me...

The headlines called it another VT shooting, this was a shooting near VT. Not a VT shooting.

It was a Virginia Tech shooting. A Virginia Tech police officer was shot. It happened in the school's Coliseum parking lot.

And, as previously stated, this is coming after the 2007 tragedy. You cannot take ANY shooting lightly, let alone one that is happening on the same campus!

You are being ridiculous. One life is too many, there are two here -- one possibly being the shooter. I'd much rather see an overreaction than none taken whatsoever.

In other news, hundreds of people were shot and killed during the news broadcasts about this. Don't ever see them saying anything about that. Two people killed in VT, boo hoo.
