but if 2 cents actullay cost 3.8 cents...that rounds to 5 cents....which in pennies would be 9 cents, which rounds to 10..unless of course you change the 5 pennies for a nickle

I admit I have dropped a penny on the ground and not thought it worth my time to pick it up.

Some say the dollar bill's future is limited too. Although it's wildly unpopular, it would save millions to go to dollar coins exclusively.
This.

Has anybody ever given thought on what society/our world would be like if people never adopted a currency based system?

Probably a switch to dollar coins would be more beneficial, but in order to do that, you'd have to pull the paper currency out of circulation.

As for rounding 'down'....heh heh, that ain't gonna happen.

I'm trying to find it, but there is an article floating around somewhere about stores who no longer accept pennies. The one I'm thinking of is a bicycle shop and they round all their prices down. It does happen.

If you round up from .03 and .04 that makes up for rounding down on .01 and .02, no?

Who gives two craps if the government keeps or removes pennies from circulation? You guys must be REALLY bored! Go shave your hands and do something useful.

Not only did you miss what they were trying to say once, but you did it twice. They are trying to say that something that would normally be $1.02 would go up to $1.05. Derp.

I have a feeling that he wouldn't feel that bad. If you read something on an internet message forum board place, and decide to off yourself because of it... well...
