FWIW, I'm not a HUGE fan of the trade for the Lakers. But it definitely is not a "bad basketball" move like the League is saying. If they want to say it's a bad money move for the team, that is fine. But it is a GREAT basketball move for the Hornets. Instead now the Hornets will lose their only player worth anything in the offseason and get NOTHING in return for him.

As soon as either team is owned by the league

I can see both sides of the argument. It has become a little ridiculous how teams are willing to give the Lakers these absurd trades. No way a team should be getting the, by far, best player in the deal AND clearing massive amounts of cap space. And it's beyond suspicious that a huge market team like the Lakers would be the beneficiary of a trade from an NBA owned team.

On the other hand, if you trust the GM that the league hired, then you have to let him run his team as if he were a real GM.

The first part of my post was more sarcasm than anything.

Basically swapped places at LSU. Might as well in the NBA also.

Chris Paul is not by far better than Pau Gasol if at all, anyway:

Agreed....I would say the lakers are weaker after that trade....but that cap space makes it interesting

There has been too much expansion. There simply are not enough quality players to fill up the rosters. When you combine the expansion with the decline of quality in the college game, it creates a disaster. The quality of the league is significantly lower than it was 20+ years ago.

Sooo...

LO showed up at the Lakers' facility 90 min late, met with GM Mitch Kupchak and then left. He isn't practicing tonight.

How do you expect someone to practice with a bruised ego and hurt feelings?

He might need a couple months off in order to come to grips with these emotions. Like a long-term bereavement leave.

I guess you have to have 12 players on your team.

Maybe a new trade will allow the Lakers to keep LO or Pau, give up Steve Blake and Derek Caracter, and get CP3 and David West.

Sounds like a good basketball move to me.

That's debatable. Howard was/ is talking with the Nets while under contract. We know the three down on south beach did the same thing, it might be nitpicking but it's breaking the rules.

I don't like superstars getting together and agreeing to be on one team, I think it's bad for the league, the NBA doesn't have many true superstars as it is, putting them all on 3-4 teams is only going to add water to an already watered down league

Few notes I gathered from twitterworld today...

Tyson Chandler to the Knicks.

Gilbert Arenas(ORL), Vince Carter(PHX), Rip Hamilton(DET) are all Free Agents after being cut by their teams and Baron Davis(Cavs) might be next.

Greg Oden suffered his 35,834,869,403 knee setback.

Chandler to the Knicks depends on them unloading Ronny Turiaf, from what I have heard.

Eh, to me the image of the players is in the shitter. The average fan sees them as a bunch of spoiled, whiny, overpaid bitches. I think the image of the nba players is the worst of any of the major sports....business wise, I think that hurts the league.

Exactly. That's why I dont understand the league protecting Paul for a future owner. There is no way he is staying, no matter who the owner is

Celtics & Hornets have a potential Sign & Trade deal... sending David West to Boston & hearing a package of Jermaine O'Neal & something else to New Orleans...

John Hollinger is reporting this could nix the whole CP3 to L.A. deal
