Unless "something else" is a pretty damn good player or a 1st round pick, New Orleans is making out way worse in that trade than in the Paul one.

Celtics...

PG-Rondo/Dooling/Bradley
SG-Allen/Douglas/Moore(R)
SF-Pierce/Green
PF-West/Bass/Johnson(R)
C-Garnett/Wilcox

From what I have read the West for O'Neal deal will include someone else but until we find out who that this, this is what Boston looks like. That 2nd team is terrible.

EDIT...That someone else is supposedly Sasha Pavlovic and if O'Neal goes to the Hornets and gets waived, he wants to go to Miami. Eddy Curry, Jermaine O'Neal and Joel Anthony...wow is there a better frontline in basketball?

Sounds like Washington will take him(and probably get rid of him).

A new deal has been submitted according to Broussard, we'll see.

If the League doesn't approve this trade, only 2 things can happen with CP3. 1: he plays in NOLA this year and leaves after. And 2: he is traded to a SMALL market team.

There is NO WAY the League, if the veto this trade, can allow him to go to a large market team in a trade.

He won't go small market because he won't resign with them. New Orleans needs to get something now for him.

This deal will get approved. Stern isn't dumb enough to veto it again.

How can he though? He is not a Free Agent. They aren't preventing him from signing anywhere, but are veto'ing a trade.

Asking, because I really do not know.

Any insight on what this deal is?

Probably has something to do with conflict of interest on the League's part.

Nothing's been said about the details of the new trade, but Broussard is the League wanted NOLA to get "more draft picks & youth & maybe for LA to take back more $."

I would not be surprised AT ALL if the deal does not include LO or Pau now.

Just saw on Hoopshype that Okafor could be going to LA and Houston would still be giving up same players...what the hell would LA be giving up, if its not LO or Pau? Matt Barnes and Eva Longoria(just friends)?

I'm telling you, they are gonna give up Steve Blake, Derek Caracter, and a celeb. Probably not even an A list celeb either.

Penny Marshall? Based on the terms that she is barred from Mardi Gras?

http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/12/09/chris-paul-reportedly-considering-legal-action-against-league/

It’s unclear what any legal action might entail. But it is possible that restraint of trade and lost wages could be part of the argument and damages. Look at what one source told ESPNNewYork.com.
“If Chris Paul doesn’t get traded,” said one source close to the Paul talks, “and if he ends up losing $30 million or $40 million in free agency because he wants to sign with someone else, I think he might have the biggest lawsuit the league has ever seen.”
If Paul leaves the Hornets as a free agent next summer he can sign a deal for four years, $74 million. If he were traded before the deadline — to the Lakers or any other team — he could opt out of that deal then re-sign with the team for five years, $100 million.

Hope this helps.

Lots of speculation that Emeka Okafor is in the new CP3 deal. Source says he is not part of trade.

Really wish something would just come out about the trade...

Unfortunately for the Cavs haters, Gilbert is just one of about 20 GMs they think this trade is bunk. They have a point.

Or maybe the league doesn't want to see another Miami situation cause that's whats going to happen. They would have enough money to go get Howard too which would be complete bullshit

I know it's not something everyone wants to see, but why is it BS? Should the Lakers move out of LA? Not allow the celebrities? Take down the banners?

Players will always have more of a desire to play for the Lakers than the small market teams. It's reality.

I see your point but that doesn't mean fans have to like it. Big city appeal doesn't seem to matter in the NFL, why should it in the NBA? I understand the difference in the system but the biggest difference seems to be in the players
