I realize the left will never let this happen because that would eliminate their entire voting base, but if people can't understand the basics of the economy, the United States, and the constitution, they shouldn't be allowed to have a say in the future of America.

Thoughts?

Both sides would fail any test of that sort anymore.

Regardless of how fucking dumb you are, you should have the right to vote. You should have to prove who you are with photo ID, though.

Do you really want to live in a country where dumb people make decisions?

10 questions. Must get 7 out of 10 correct, if you are a registered Republican or Independent. 3 out of 10 correct if you are a Democrat. I just fixed America.

<O:pHow about this:

Legal / Authorized Driver Licenses (non-drive exempt)
Social Security Card
Copy Birth Certificate
W-2 of the past or present year

If anyone of the above is not present at time of voting … you can't vote.

Calling somebody an idiot while failing to use proper capitalization and punctuation.

Ironic.

So you prefer to have dumb people have a say in shaping America? I just want to protect this country from the idiots pushing for legislation that is detrimental to this country in the long run. If you can't locate Oklahoma on a map, then you shouldn't be voting. If you don't know what diminishing returns are, you shouldn't be voting. If you can't balance a checkbook, you shouldn't be voting. If you can't name the amendment that protects the right to bear arms, you shouldn't be voting.

That's all I'm trying to say.

Ironic.
A bandwagon cowboys fan trying to make fun of someone and failing for punctuation while using incorrect punctuation, now that's hilarious.

Where's the state capital and multiplication table quiz? Lot more to voting and having a voice than being able to measure up to your standard of intelligence. Typical smug idiot.

Barely half of the population votes in Presidential election as is, and its a much lower percentage in the low income areas. Low income areas with a lot of immigrants are probably the ones who wouldn't pass your test anyway so you're really just wasting your time.

Really, you have to pass a written and driving test to get your license, but you don't even have to be able to read to vote.

I have the right to own a gun. I still am subject to a background check, have to answer some basic questions, and can have that right taken away (for non-felony related reasons), and I'm not sure if some states require certain safety courses.

The dumbing down of the electorate has led to a dumbing down of debates and campaigning. I fail to see how that is productive and beneficial to our country.

Those requirements are to purchase and register a new gun. Isn't it legal to buy a gun from your neighbor and own it? Does it then have to be registered to you?

Maybe LJ can answer my questions.
