Did someone claim that veterans are the only people keeping this country free??

You can thank anyone and everyone who is employed. Although it's not needed if you want to you should.

So people want a meaningless holiday to thank veterans? Do you really need a whole day to thank someone?

LOL

By making a special day for those who supposedly keep this country free, then yes.

I think we all know what this is about.

Sleeper is mad that the military has Veterans Day and also people celebrate them all year long.

Yet there is just one day set aside for Gay Pride Day.

You don't need a day for veterans, its a meaningless holiday. You should be thankful for people for do their jobs everyday, regardless of profession.
You didn't answer his other questions.

Apparently people do, yes.

I don't think they need a whole day. I think they choose to make it a day. It's seems clean and easy. One day is simpler than one hour. It also follows suit to other periods put in place to recognize certain groups or events.

Declaring a special day doesn't necessarily mean they are the only ones. That's faulty logic.

Then they don't need a meaningless holiday. It's over glorification of a profession, and not a particular hard one to get into.

I agree that it's not needed but rather it's desired.

No holidays are needed and meaning comes from the people and what they choose for the meaning to be.

How do most veterans feel about curb appeal? What is the general consensus?

Not being a veteran nor having asked one I don't know the answer to that.

I will give ya your last comment. It isnt a hard profession to get in to. As for a holiday, I am not the type who really cares about such days.

Many people celebrate their birthday's each year, and many expect gifts, free dessert/food at a restaurant and family/friends to send happy birthday wishes each year to celebrate their birth. If you are so against a day like Veterans Day then I guess you should be against people celebrating ones birthday. Each and every day a person should be thankful they were born, and just as you say joinin the military isnt that hard you also have to agree that since every single person has a birth day that they shouldlnt make a big deal about it.

It isnt a hard profession to get into, but even you have to agree that it really is a much different type of lifestyle than the average joe.

It's a choice to do a job at fair market value. You don't deserve any additional credit for that. Vets can say all they want about joining "to serve and protect their country", but for the most part the reality is "I can't get a job elsewhere and the military is the easy way out".

There are many educated people in the military who can find ample work elsewhere. Case in point my brother. electrical engineer, worked a year in his field making more than either of his parents in his first job who left his cushy job to become a SEAL. 40% of his team had college degrees and left their jobs to do what they were doing.

Yeah, there are a number of people see it as a place to get work and that enist because they cannot get a job elsewhere. On the flipside of that though, many normal Americans are currently at their jobs right now because they cannot find employment some place else and just staying in their dead end job is the easy way out.

I wouldnt call joining the military as the easy way out. It isnt as difficult as many people think, but it is much more difficult than what most people go through in their employment.
