Fail! Where did I say Mooney should've have started "their freshman team"? I simply said congrats to the CMHS frosh for beating the UHS freshman(who beat St. Eds 28-0). Way to come in here and take a dump on the thread, and make yourself look like a fool.

Now that that's out of my system. Great win for the Irish last night. They played like they wanted it more and it showed last night. Hats off to coach Kempe that's the best the d has looked all year.

Where does this win place Ursuline in their region? You'd have to imagine with the Div I second level points they'd get from Mooney, they'd move up a good bit. And if they be St.V next week will where will that have the potential to place them? Also, have they stayed healthy this whole time? Playing such a schedule can bang a team up, so if they do make it in to the playoffs, will everyone be healthy?

Ursuline should be around 8.13 points after this week. Red Lion had a game cancelled last week which means the divisor will go from 96 to 95. That equates to roughly .10 of a point or so (if UHS wins next week) and may very well benefit the Irish. If the 95 is reflected this week, then Ursuline may be around 8.20.

I believe Ursuline, Southern, and Garaway will duke it out for the #8 seed this week. Garaway has the inside track if they win, but if they lose, Southern needs 5-4 McDonald (over 9-0 Western Reserve) or 6-3 Toronto (over 5-3 Madonna, WV) to win, and if those two things don't happen, Ursuline has a pretty damn good shot at sneaking in.

Ursuline still needs a ton of help. Springfield beating Columbiana dealt a major blow to Ursuline's chances because it allowed a team thought to be dead in the water to leap-frog them. They needed for a team above them to lose, and as I figured, Barnesville obliged, but that was cancelled by Springfield.

Then Cambridge beat Zanesville. Ursuline really needed Zanesville to win out. So now they need to have East Tech win next week which is a very low probability.

Ursuline is back to the same place as last week. Somebody ahead in the 6-8 spots needs to lose. As said the best chance for that would be Garaway losing to Strasburg. Then it would be a computer point war with Southern which I feel they would lose. Southern is looking to be locked into a minimum of 14.35, possibly more if Toronto wins and McDonald and E. Palestine pulls upsets. The rest of their beaten opponents play each other so they get the points either way. I see Ursuline in the 14.0 range unless East Tech can win.

Per last week, Southern's min win out was 14.00, which that would have included their L2 they will automatically get this week from those four opponents playing each other. I still believe they need McDonald to beat WR or Toronto over Magnolia to get into the playoffs. If they do not, I look for Garaway or Ursuline to sneak in at #8.

But you are correct, Springfield's loss was brutal to the Irish playoff chances. I think Garaway losing is somewhat of a decent shot, since that team they are playing will need to win to get in as well. That should be a close one. However if they win, they should be in.

Mooney clinched a playoff spot with the loss to Ursuline.

OK...they clinched the playoff spot with the bump in L2 points. But it's still fun to say it this way.

I don't get what you are saying. Even Joe Eitel has Southern's min win out point total at 14.35... not 14.00. If Ursuline is going to pass Southern then Ursuline needs ALL their beaten opponents to win week 10 while no more than 2 of Southern's beaten opponents wins. Plain and simple.

It changed, as one or two Southern opponents won in week 9.

Ursuline's biggest mistake was playing the teams from New Jersey and Delaware. They would have been better off with a bye week on one of those. 4-5 would have gotten them into the playoffs as the number six seed in the region.

If they hadn't played Red Lion, they would have finished 4-5. Ursuline's point totals would have been the same, because you get no points from losing. But their L1 divisor would have been 9 instead of 10 and their L2 divisor would have been 87 instead of 95 (since Red Lion played 8 games that counted in the OHSAA rankings). Their 21.5 L1 points would have yielded 2.39 points, rather than 2.15. Their 112.5 L2 points would have yielded 12.93 points instead of 11.84. And their total points would have been 15.32 instead of 13.99, good for the 6th seed in D5,R17.

Easy to say in hindsight

Competitors want to compete

Also, no one wants an open week in week 1

Had Ursuline not taken 6 weeks to figure out what they were doing, the schedule talk is irrelevant. They paid the price for stumbling out of the gate.
