55% of users liked it. I never pay attention to the critics. They're assholes who like nothing.Laley23;1371573 wrote:I saw the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and it pissed me off. Low 20s! I knew it wouldnt be good, but if it was above 50% I wouldve gone for the entertainment. Glad to hear you were entertained though.

I FINALLY saw Django last night. I'm a pretty big Tarantino fan and I wanted to disagree with you as soon as you posted but waited to see the movie first so I would have a clue what I was talking about. Unfortunately I tend to agree with you. I still thought the movie was good, but not great. I'm not sure if it's the revenge factor like you say or something else. There was just something I couldn't quite put my finger on. I did like it, but it just felt like every other movie Tarantino has done, with cowboys.Dr Winston O'Boogie;1365426 wrote:Django was okay at best. Schultz was very good and Foxx and Dicaprio were both good. But frankly this is the fourth revenge film for Tarrantino ( five if you count the Kill Bills as two seperate films). There is absolutely nothing new or original here. I remember how I felt in awe as I sat in the theatre and watched Pulp Fiction the first time. Kind of sad that he's become predictable and, frankly, not that funny anymore.

Completely different genre, but that is how I felt with Moonrise Kingdom. It was as if Wes Anderson looked at all of his past films and made a new movie based on a bit of all of said previous films. Doesn't make it a bad movie, just more of the same.FatHobbit;1372572 wrote:I FINALLY saw Django last night. I thought Django was really solid. Not great like some have said, but really good. I thought it dragged a bit at the end. Couldve ended sooner. Would love to see Christoph Waltz in a role that isnt this. Same character as Basterds...though he is awesome in both.
Will probably check out Silver Linings Playbook next week.

Well, you saw that it was a decent film, just not one that showcases anything new from Tarantino. If it were thie first one of his films someone saw, they may regard it higher than I did. But considering it in the context of all of his work, it seemed repetitive. I hope his next effort is away from the revenge storyline.FatHobbit;1372572 wrote:I FINALLY saw Django last night. I love Tarantino and I love revenge movies... I'm a sucker for them. Django was my favorite movie of 2012.Dr Winston O'Boogie;1374335 wrote:Well, you saw that it was a decent film, just not one that showcases anything new from Tarantino. [SP]I was disappointed but I did like it better than Del Toro's last (Don't Be Afraid of The Dark). What did you take from the ending? I thought it was supposed to signify that the youngest girl was just too wild to live in the regular world. Oh and Jessica Chastain kept my interest but they could've let her do a chest shot at least. Ha [/SP]wes_mantooth;1369879 wrote:Just got back from "Mama". Despite the favorable reviews, I thought it was corny as hell. It had a few of those "cat jumping out of the cabinet" type scares, but other than that....very lame.

I still like "Rushmore" out of all of his movies
I felt like Anderson was trying harder than usual for his movie to be a hipster favorite. The colors, set design and acting were all top notch. I just feel like that for most of his films, people overrate his movies. If "Bill Smith", anonymous director, was behind half of his movies, they wouldn't get near the attention. Especially with movies like "Life Aquatic" and "Darjeeling Limited" which were complete stinkers.

[sp]Obviously Neeson had nothing left to live for, but at the end he continued to fight and follow the words of his father's poem. The odds of anyone surviving in the Alaska wilderness for long were pretty much non-existent, but at least he went out with a fight.
And the movie is filmed beautifully.[/sp]
