Lincoln, Zero Dark 30, Silver Linings Playbook all disagree.

Even "Mama" is getting decent reviews for a horror movie

I heard "Mama" is terrible. And of course Lincoln and Zero Dark Thirty were good, most high budget movies about historical events are.

What does that have to do with whether or not movies are good? You said no good movies out lately then named 2 recently good movies?

Been a busy weekend of movie watching for me to get caught up. So far I've watched:

House At The End Of The Street - It was OK

Taken 2 - Much like the first one, but was entertained
Sinister - Didn't care for this one much
Django Unchained - Excellent
Zero Dark Thirty - Excellent
Bayou Outlaws - Pretty good
Contraband - Pretty good
The Possession - Enjoyed it
The Pact - Wasn't too bad, worth watching

Because I know what happened to Lincoln and Bin Laden. I'm more into original stories I guess.

Right but you said there were no good movies recently. Then agreed that 2 recent movies were good movies. But you somehow tried to argue they don't count because they're high budget historical films. Makes no sense to me but I guess it isn't a big deal

How does "A Haunted House" count? Haha it's a ripoff / riff on the Paranormal Activity movies.

Zero dark thirty was great.

Also if your in Columbus you have to check out the AMC Cinema Suites at Easton. The seats are amazing and I will probably never see a movie anywhere else again.

Just heard about that place this weekend...heard it is pretty sweet.

Saw Zero Dark Thirty on Thursday night at our crappy theatre. The sound in there sucks, but it is just 5 bucks.

Was a very good movie. You have to have the right mindset going in. It is not an action movie. Hell, the WHOLE raid itself was what...40 minutes and ya knew only a few people were killed.
If you go into the movie knowing it is going to be about how they found him...the interrogations, the dead ends and the endless work it took and leaps of faith some had to take to keep on it then I think ya would enjoy it.

Didn't head to the theater this weekend but did rent two from redbox. Savages and Looper. We enjoyed both.

Saw Looper last night, finally. WOW... what an excellent movie. I see now what everyone was talking about with "the only original movie" this year talk. I'll have to revise my list to...

21) Wrath of the Titans
20) Wreck It Ralph
19) Lincoln
18) Premium Rush
17) Total Recall
16) The Dictator
15) Men In Black III
14) Spider-man
13) Taken 2
12) Man on a Ledge
11) Flight
10) The Campaign
9) 21 Jump Street
8) Ted
7) The Hunger Games
6) Act of Valor
5) Zero Dark Thirty
4) The Dark Knight Rises
3) Looper
2) Django Unchained
1) The Avengers

Again... some of the movies can probably be switched a spot or two, but for the most part, that would be my rankings. (Still haven't seen Skyfall yet).

Also, in other news, I finally got around to watching Good Will Hunting. What a great film that was. Say what you will about Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, but they hit a homerun with that one. Was Good Will Hunting loosely based off of a true-story? Where'd the idea come from? (and side note: what the helpp happened to Minnie Driver? Feel like she hasn't done anything since)

Broken City was entertaining. I thought Wahlberg and Crowe did a good job.

Hence my comment (feels like she hasn't done anything since).

Anyone know why? I didn't think she was awful. The name too is a recognizable name (albeit, I'm not sure from what / why).

I saw the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and it pissed me off. Low 20s! I knew it wouldnt be good, but if it was above 50% I wouldve gone for the entertainment. Glad to hear you were entertained though.
