Some of them might be slotted a spot or two too high/low, but in general, I think I tend to agree with my listing. Who knows, maybe if given more thought, or if some of the older movies were more recent, maybe they would be higher.

Enjoyed Act of Valor as well...probably watched in 4-5 times. Great movie, and as my brother said...a former SEAL, that it was pretty damned realistic as to what they do/have done. The only thing he thought was hokey was when the guy was caught before he hit the water to keep him from making a loud noise.

LOL, that was the BEST PART!!!, and I could totally see the Navy Seals doing something like that.

In one year? No such thing as 20 good movies coming out in a year. I'm surprised you didn't have twilight and lincoln the vampire slayer on there.

yeah..that was pretty cool. He said it something that could happen but of anything in the movie he thought was hollywood'd up it was that! He also mentioned that the Team guys in the movie werent in "operating shape" per say.....those guys usually get pretty jacked for their deployments during their workups..but all in all a very solid movie. He doesnt say that much with war movies!

Bad year for movies IMO.

Moonrise Kingdom and Django are my #1 and #2. I did not see Killing them Softly, but I'd imagine it would be on list. Lincoln, Beasts of Southern Wild, and To Rome with Rome would round out my top 6. Robot and Frank, The Master, Argo, Looper, and Skyfall rounding out top 11. Can't name 9 other movies.

Last 4 were decent and a stretch, wouldn't put them on any of my top movie lists, just the best of the rest.

Never once said they were ALL good. Just ranked the movies I saw, and I happened to have seen 20. I'd say the line between "good" and "average" is #s 12 and 11.

Also, you didn't answer my question. Please share/list your movies in order of your preference, please.

Moonrise Kingdom <-- for the record, I have high hopes for this, but could also see it being a lot like Lost In Translation, where it's a little too dry
Argo <-- for the record, I thought this looked awful, but I've heard reviews that the previews were horrid and the movie was actually really good.
Killing them Softly / Beasts of Southern Wild / To Rome with Rome / The Master <-- for the record, I have no idea any of these movies even existed, and I can't imagine them being any good if I haven't heard about any of them
Robot and Frank <-- for the record, this sounds like, perhaps, the single worst movie of the year possibly.

Argo would be lowest on the list for me. Moonrise Kingdom would be #1 as its my favorite of the movies you haven't seen. Looper was solid and one of the few original ideas Hollywood produced this year. Master had good acting but based on your preference (Action movies) you wouldn't enjoy it.

Bond was decent but no where near as good as Casino Royale. Its an action movie done right but nothing to write home about. I love bond though and thats why its on the list.

SMH at robot and frank sounding bad, you like dumb action movies with zero substance, plot development, character development, or good acting I take it.

I really wanted to see Killing Them Softly. I like Brad Pitt in most action roles that arent directed towards all audiences (Mr. and Mrs. Smith...etc).

Am I the only one that thinks the Daniel Craig bond movies are 1000 times better than the remington steele bond movies? I think I watched one or two with Pierce Brosnan but I can't wait for the next bond movie. (whenever and whatever it may be)

That's what I've been hearing. Certainly don't want you to say anything, as it might ruin it, but I'm hoping there's some big "twist" and thus why everyone is alluding to it as "one of the few original ideas Hollywood has produced" of recent.

Funny you should say Skyfall was good, but nowhere near as good as Casino Royale. That's exactly what I've been hearing. I know I'll see it at some point. And FWIW, Casino Royale is probably my favorite Bond movie ever.

I didn't think there was a big twist or that it really lived up to the hype. (it was ok, but not great.) It's just different than most movies that are out right now.

No, I like Action movies, comedies, romance, horror, etc. I actually have a real appreciation for good acting movies (Ledger in The Dark Knight, Washington in Training Day, DiCaprio in Blood Diamond, DDL in Gangs of New York, Crowe in Gladiator, Spacey in American Beauty, Nicholson in As Good as It Gets, Hanks in Gump, etc.).

I say Robot and Frank sounds dumb because it sounds like Tribioni's Mac and Cheese in Friends.

I was waiting for someone to say that :-D , but to be honest, I put the list together pretty quick and I could EASILY see jostling around a movie or two. So I felt the need to state that in no way is it "official" lol

I've never even heard of Robot and Frank, Beasts of Southern Wild, or To Rome with Rome. Did you see them at the theater?

Yes, I enjoyed it. There were a few weird parts but Phoenix and Seymour Hoffman put on good performances. I generally like Amy Adams but I thought her role was kind of just eh.
