As far as Oscar style movies go, I would rate them...

1. Django
2. Silver Linings Playbook
3. Lincoln

4. Zero Dark Thirty

I don't know, I just really liked it...thought that Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence and De Niro did a great job at being people with some severe issues.

Ha I just didn't think it looked that good in the trailer. It didn't come to a theater near me so I didn't even have a chance to go see it but I'm pretty interested now.

Cannot wait to see O dark thirty.
I read the book by one of the guys on the raid...No Easy Day. Excellent book. The NatGeo version of it shown on sunday before the election was good as well, for a TV movie I guess.
Did they give proper props to the lady who was CERTAIN that UBL was there? I hope so as the other two versions they did and she was VERY instrumental in this op even happening. The Prez gets props for giving the green light for it (dont like the guy, but gotta give props where they are due as it took balls to go into another country like that without telling them) and of course the SEALs for kicking ass and doing what they do...but it doesnt even happen if that lady who worked in it for years doesnt convince them it is 100%. The other experts were only saying 30-40% chance and if that stood then no way they go in and do it.

She's basically the main character in a near 3 hour movie. So yes, she gets props.

I like Jessica Chastain (especially after Lawless). She's one of the few actresses I really like.

Zero Dark Thirty just doesn't look appealing to me. Hate HATE when they make chicks into super tough guys like the role that Michelle Rodriguez always plays.

Case in point:

Yeah no thanks. Oh Im super tough and cool girl with an attitude! bleh fake as shit.

Well the real CIA/intel lady who is the focal point was steadfast in her belief he was there 100%. Even in the book No Easy Day they talked about how she wouldnt back down to those who questioned her reasoning and belief he was there.

And why not put a pretty face on whomever was playing that role? I would rather see a pretty face then some uggo.

I just returned from watching Zero Dark Thirty. I thought it was pretty good. I really dig Jessica Chastain. The only reason I mention that is because I don't really care for actresses.

I was pretty disappointed with the previews.

Just finished Zero Dark Thirty. I just don't see the Best Picture hype. I thought it was pretty meh. I wasn't amazed by the movie or any particular performance.

Weak year for movies this year is why. Plus its a current event so that always gets the ZOMG We're so trendy buzz like Social Network. In a few years no one will remember it.

I agree with this completely. If it wasn't for the current subject matter....it wouldn't be this hyped. It is a solid movie, but nothing that special

To be fair, she's not playing a super tough guy role and it's definitely not anything close to a Michelle Rodriguez role. She's CIA and is working on the case/gathering intel/interrogating terrorists... She's not guns blazing and even looks a bit uneasy during the first few interrogations.

I saw Zero Dark Thirty (and Lincoln) last night (needles to say it was a long night). Zero Dark Thirty was AMAZING. Definitely one of the top movies on my list for this past year. I highly recommend seeing it. Lincoln... eh... not my thing/type of movie. Sure Daniel Day-Lewis' acting was stellar, but it was really just too dry, no action, and too 19th Century for me (yes, I know... what did I expect, right?).

If anyone cares, here's my top list for 2012 movies.

Note: Skyfall isn't on the list because I, unfortunately, never made it out to see it.

You can feel free to tear apart this list and say (so-and-so movie isn't on there?) but that's probably because I didn't get a chance to see it. All of these movies I actually saw. Some of them might be slotted a spot or two too high/low, but in general, I think I tend to agree with my listing. Who knows, maybe if given more thought, or if some of the older movies were more recent, maybe they would be higher.

20) Wrath of the Titans
19) Wreck It Ralph
18) Lincoln
17) Premium Rush
16) Total Recall
15) The Dictator
14) Men In Black III
13) Spider-man
12) Taken 2
11) Man on a Ledge
10) Flight
9) The Campaign
8) 21 Jump Street
7) Ted
6) The Hunger Games
5) Act of Valor
4) Zero Dark Thirty
3) The Dark Knight Rises
2) Django Unchained
1) The Avengers
