I agree. Here were the standings from 2010 qualification:
US 6-2-2 (20)
Mexico 6-1-3 (19)
Honduras 5-1-4 (16)
---
Costa Rica 5-1-4 (16)
---
El Salvador 2-2-6 (8)
Trinidad/Tobago 1-3-6 (6)
Basically aiming for 6 wins in 10 games. I think we can get it done.

Figure you need about 15-18 points out of a possible 30. If we cant do that, good ridance. I wouldnt be surprised if we struggled and it came down to the final matches. But in the end, USA should make this relatively easily. Early stage games are a key. Dont drop points early and you keep the pressure of the middle matches and subsequent later matches off your back.

I hope Jozy has his head right by the time next year rolls around, I think he could be a great add up front for the team. If he's focused he truly can be one of the best strikers in the region. Also hope the D gets some things figured out.

Landon, Jozy and a few others need to be healthy. And Clint needs to stay healthy which is tough in the EPL.

Would love to see what Terrence Boyd in current form could do with Jozy up top. Clint as a rover behind them and Landon on a wing with another winger. Really wanna see Jurgen get aggressive with the lineup and be direct with a bunch of attackers. I think Bradley can be a great CM and Jones behind him at CDM.

Jared Embick, current Akron associate head coach. He's had experience as a head coach previously and spent the past 4 seasons under Caleb Porter. Should definitely help with the continuity of the program.

No shock it happened to be an insider. Good for him. He's an ol' NAIA guy too. So much for the disrespect the NAIA gets.

Also, minor "edit," he was hired by Porter 6 years ago.

i do not know how I feel about it personally. Part of me is glad the University stuck with an "Akron guy" and a very good one at that, but another part of me wanted to see them go out and get a top coach from another school.

I understand that completely...especially since I'm looking.

I don't know much about the guy, but if Porter hired him...there must be something good about him.

Yeah, I imagine the University did the right thing. He was assistant coach of the year in 2010 and is the recruiting coordinator for the program, so he has some value. I just hope he can handle it.

My initial thoughts on that are: is it really THAT hard to recruit for Caleb Porter and the #1 (at least top 3 every year).

But, rumor has it that he is actually a tremendous recruiter.

Garber confirms that Hunts Sports Group is looking to sell the Crew!
We are committed to finding a local partner in Columbus, Ohio, for the Columbus Crew. The Hunts still own 2 MLS teams. They have made a commitment to get out, and we are encouraging them to do so, but we will only do so with the right owners. So we are spending a lot of time on that.
AHHHHHHH! Keep them in Columbus!

This scares me.

If they're extending the EPL rights, it probably means the bids are very close. I don't know what would happen if beIN got the rights to the EPL. They'd have the rights to the EPL, La Liga, Ligue Un, and Serie A, and only one channel to play the games on. Definitely hoping Fox-ESPN's joint bid wins.

if BeIN gets EPL, it will surely become like FSC and be available on most providers from the get go. The backlash will be triple that of what it is for La Liga and USMNT Away games being gone, if not more.

The one channel thing is scary, but Im guessing they would launch a 2nd English channel.

A little follow up on the Crew's pending ownership swap...and good follow up at that...
There is zero talk of selling to anyone who has the intention of moving the Crew from Columbus

The Akron Zips went 803 in-game minutes without allowing a goal from the Notre Dame game until beating WVU 2-1 last night.

I cannot believe the Crew will not be making a playoff appearance.

There needs to be some changes. Unfortunately, Higuain and Arrieta couldn't do it all. Gaven did his best. What's it going to take? Bye-bye Bobby? Dunno...

They have to fire Robert. I know for a fact that Brad Friedel want's the job. The only question is will they 1) fire bobby and 2 ) be willing to wait for his season to be over (for him to retire)
