In addition to what I just said, Portugal was a shoot out away from playing in the Euro finals. I don't think Ronaldo has played in a tournament where he hasn't advanced to the knock out stage.

I also want to add the fact that it's not in Europe. European teams struggle overseas. I have some hope for this!

EDIT: Just looked it up, Nuno Gomes is who came in that I was thinking of. The teenager who had all the hype I am remembering must have been Hugo Viana.

Yeah, Messi being out is going to be great in the long run. Neymar is starting to find a rhythm on the pitch that he could get just jumping in like he did while Messi was around. Now that he is playing better, and gaining confidence as "the man", they will be a scary duo up top.
