If you don't get another $25 donation you might as well donate another $25 yourself since it wouldn't cost you anything (hitting $150 gets you a $25 discount which would be essentially given directly to WW).

How does that even work? Do they give you a check for $25 when you sign in or something? I don't really care about the discount, I've already put $150+ into it with the registration and $25 donation I already made.

They mail it to you. You get it a few weeks after the race I believe.

I ran the Spartan last month and will be going to my second Tough Mudder in a few weeks in NJ. You'll be pretty beat after but it's an awesome experience.

That's awesome. Any tips? And how'd you like the Spartan Race (which type was it)?

I ran the Super. Took it easy because I had a race the next day. I thought Tough Mudder was a bit tougher due to length or race and more obstacles, at least compared to the Super. Tough Mudder is also more about camaraderie while Spartan is more "race", if that makes sense. It was alright though.

As for tips while running the race, bring energy gel and stay hydrated. You'll have time to rest during the race as many of the obstacles had lines. How much are you training now? When's the race?

I thought it's in his will to pass the site onto Mike Clark if he doesn't survive the Mudder.

I've been training a lot and stay in pretty good shape. I'm doing the November 20th one. It's not like finishing the thing is going to be difficult as I'm in plenty good shape to do it, the difficult thing will be trying to do it quickly. I know it isn't a race per se but I'll be using a watch to time myself. That's the thrill of it for me. The toughest thing will probably the temperature as I assume it's going to be cold in Chicago in about a month.

The only thing I good have done to prepare for this would have been running crazy hills. And even that wouldn't have helped much. We went up and down the side of a mountain maybe 5 or 6 times each way. And it was steep as hell.

Hypothermia was an issue when I went, quite a few people went down including one of my teammates. And as Justin mentioned, the steep hills are a bitch. Sucks in the military and sucks in the mudder. Only thing you can do to prepare for that is to run them every week so your body adapts to the stress.

What was your time?

Running 9+ miles up and down Wintergreen ain't a walk in the park, can't imagine having to do it with all of the obstacles.
