An intelligent person would weigh all that in their mind prior to signing a multi-year contract with an employer. Whether it's the military or a private company.

It's the amount of money + benefits that attracts the exact amount of people the military requires to fill its positions of need. I don't think its that complicated of a concept.

The money and benefits didn't attract me.

Sleeper do you know anything about the military or the people in the military? Have you ever said this kind of shit to a Vet or an Active Duty person? I will answer this for you! No because they would punch you right in the fucking face.

The benefits don't always have to be monetary. You even said it yourself, you did it because you wanted to make a difference and kill people. Therefore, that is substitute for any monetary benefit.

And yes, I would say it to their face, and most wouldn't have the balls to take a swing at me.

Haha I'm sure.

Just like you would never have the balls to pull the trigger and kill someone.

Why would I want to kill someone? I have aspirations in life that are beyond the simple task of using a bullet, which you could train a monkey to do.

Probably not as successful in firefights without air support. I see you've bought into the whole "rivalry" between different branches of the military instead of respecting what each one does for the other.
Pick6;795086 wrote:benefits are nice, but salary is pretty much crap lol
True, but in the military you really don't have to pay for any of life's neccessities. Housing, food and insurance is all provided if you choose to participate.
Tiger2003;795189 wrote:Haha
For a E-1 his pay is $17,000 a year that is not that much money.
The military does not pay for your food. Each month you are charged $240+ for a Meal Card. You get a basic housing allowance if you live off base but if you live on base you don't get more money.

Do you really think we should have shitty insurance?

The military pays you BAS and BAH. They absolutely pay for food and housing.
Fab1b;795469 wrote:But you are blaming the soldiers that didn't have a choice in the matter, they are doing as they are ordered to do by the Army. I hold the Army at fault for disobeying Delta's guidelines, I just don't think the individual soldier should pay, if anything the Army should cover the bag fees that is what I am saying!

The Army is reimbursing the soldiers.

Complete non-story. The "staff sergeant" in the video is probably being disciplined right now. You can't just expect a civilian carrier to change its policies on your whim, there is a right way and wrong way to have gone about this - this was the wrong way and everyone loses. Delta looks unpatriotic and had to apologize (even though it did nothing wrong) and Mr. "staff sergeant" is an idiot for not knowing the baggage protocol and filming his displeasure about paying a cost that would certainly be reimbursed.

Thanks for your service, Staff Sgt. dude, but next time don't be a gigantic attention whore douche bag and tape it over something that is completely not a big deal.

I'm trying to keep quiet here. I think i'll keep quiet here. No, fuck it.

Why do soldiers come back here and think everything should just be given to them?

Like that guy that got pissed because he didn't get free tech support for a printer and made a video trashing that company because they didn't cater to his ass.

These people have money and can spend it just like everyone else.

Then ya got these fuckers that wake up and decide they're gonna throw the uniform on and hit the Walmart or local mall and see how many people that come up and give the awkward Thank You for your service or some other cheesy line.

WTFever!

Before each pay if you are on a meal card it is deducted out of your pay. A single marine gets no BAS or BAH.

It is only valid/open a day or two before you are slated to leave through a day or two after you come back. It is being used in lieu of the travel vouchers. I am not sure how new it is. It is basically used for travel expenses when going to schools and training. I do not know the reasoning behind them over the old way of doing things.

I know a few guys who have used to when they go to different training schools and such and then they only get the money reimbursed for legit expenses. If you charge something that is not authorized you dont get it paid and are to pay it on your own.
yeah that is right, some people did get them when going to schools. i just remember it was a pain in the butt in my battalion, everything i bought had to be signed off on by the CO and then the S-4 i think.

The Marines have their own C-130s...they are making Lego gunships out of a couple of them right now because the Air Force won't fly their gunships in Afghanistan as much as needed.

I think we have now stuck our noses in more places than we need to be in at this point. 01-04 was justifiable. Staying and killing Osama was justifiable. Why are we still in Iraq?

Really? Not even close. I can support and respect our troops and still feel as if they get too much in return.

sleeper - you'd never say it to my face without getting knocked on your keester!

As a Vet, I don't feel that I am owed anything...even respect. However, I do show respect and gratitude for fellow men and women who sacrificed their time and life for my freedoms.

It really is a way of life... we should treat everyone with respect.

I've heard that before, and I'm cool with that. Maybe it's just the whole inability to read tones over the Interwebz thing.

If that's the case, carry on. :D
