I have an Xbox 360 and I've had this system for a few years. I've never had any problems with it, but recently it started making a bunch of noise when I play games. When I watch Netflix it's perfectly fine. The only time it makes noise is when a CD is spinning in the system.

A friend of mine told me the CD Drive is going out. He said that I could replace the CD Drive myself, but that it will void my system's warranty. I was going to go ahead and buy a new system because I can't see putting money into one that has so many years under it's belt already.

Are the only hard drive sizes 4 GB and 250 GB? I've only had a 60 GB for about 3 years now and I'm only about half way through the memory. I don't need something as big as 250, but I'm thinking 4 may be too small. Are the new black Xbox's compatible with the white ones? I was wondering if I could put my old hard drive into the new Xbox?

Why can't you buy an arcade one and switch the hard drive?

I don't think they sell the arcade ones new anymore. Everything I've seen online is the black one (that I think has the hard drive built into it) or refurbished old white ones. I'm not too sure about buying used. I've never done it and I'm not too sure I want to start. I've heard nothing good from people I know that have bought used from game stores.

Is it with every CD?

The same thing happens/happened with some DVDs on my PS3. It seemed like it was the older DVDs though. The games and the Blue Rays work fine though. Maybe it's certain discs.

It's every disc. At least every disc that I have. At first I thought it was scratching my discs, but it wasn't at all. That's what it sounded like, but all of them are fine. It also takes a while longer to load than it used to.

I install my games to the HD... I have a 60GB one also... and just play them from there. You still have to put the game in the XBox, but it makes no noise at all. Each game is about 6GB to install.

Installing the games is definitely the way to go, no noise, faster loading times, and you save a lot of wear on your disc drive.

Be a man and just buy my xbox 360 off of me. Haven't hardly touched the thing since last Summer.
