4:20 is no different than St Patty's day or Cinqo De Mayo (just alcohol holidays) and I am willing to bet causes more problems from drinking driving, fighting, etc.....than some pot heads eating their fritos and chillin

Except there are actual meanings behind St. Patty's Day and Cinqo De Mayo.

Again, I don't have a problem with it because people smoke pot. Not at all.

I have a problem with it because people do not shut the fuck up about it. "Aww man, you know what day it is? 4/20 we're gonna go smoke". Shut up, I don't care go smoke but shut up.

If people constantly said, aww man, it's St. Paddys day, I'm gonna go get drunk because it's St.Paddys day then I'd be equally annoyed (even though St. Patrick's day has a bit more historical basis than 4/20 as a holiday). But at least with people I know they talk about going to parties, parades, etc on St. Paddys day and those are the justification for drinking. Not so much time is spent talking about the day itself.

And do these meanings translate to getting shitfaced when you're not even Irish or Mexican?

On St Patty's and Cinqo all I hear is people saying they are going to get wasted, shitfaced, hammered, etc....Look I understand pot is illegal and it's not a holiday but in the minds of smokers but if you are not Irish or Mexican come St Patty's or Cinqo you have no business celebrating either!

I dunno, but that doesn't change the fact that they are actual holidays, not just some made up day for people to smoke pot. I don't care that ppl smoke, in fact I believe it should've been legal a long time ago, but it's still dumb to claim a day for weed smoking.

In your thought yes, but why can't they?? People declare stupid days for stupid reasons all the time in the world. Let people have their day and enjoy themselves, if you don't want to participate no problem. I drink on St Pattys and Cinqo as well if not working by the way but was just saying it really is no different especially if your stance is I hate hearing about it all day, because that is all people talk about on those two days is drinking!

Claim a day? lol

I always took 4/20 as a running joke for college students and for head shops to have sweet sales. People will literally bitch about anything lol

I noticed that Comedy Central has a stoner theme tonight. Three episodes of South Park, 2 with Towlie, the other with medicinal marijuana.

What do we want?
Bigger doors!
Where do we want them?
Weed stores!

To be fair St. Patrick's day is an official Catholic holiday as well as a bunch of other Christian denominations. Not merely an Irish one.

Also, the Lenten restriction on alcohol is lifted on St. Patrick's day, which is where the drinking comes into play.

There's no Lenten restriction on alcohol.

Correct. Should've said that if you have chosen not to drink alcohol as your Lenten restriction, that restriction is lifted for the day, as are all chosen Lenten restrictions.
