Throw a little standard deduction into the mix and then wowzer.... $1500 tax credit (not deduction...credit) for putting in a high efficiency furnace...and another 4K deduction for junior's tuition.
Last year we received 7 grand back from uncle Sam. Overpaid due to some unusual circumstances. Finished up my taxes Sunday....have another $4200 coming to us this year. Wifey is lovin it.
Here's where the tax system royally screws (no kiss) single taxpayers. All these "family friendly" tax breaks that end up costing everyone. I say let's eliminate all those tax breaks and perhaps we'll see less social problems because there will be less kids, less divorce (or marriages) and we get the added plus of a greener planet because there are fewer around using up the resources.
Did that sound eco-nazi enough to be real?
I do hate the whole redistributing the wealth thing -- even when it includes middle class families.
I'd prefer a fair tax setup.
