Pittsburgh blows. Turds may float for awhile, but they always end up in the septic tank.

This is turning out to be quite the collapse. I figured they'd hit a wall and would tail off at some point but this is worse than I expected.

10-game losing streak ends with a 5-0 win over the Giants. Morton pitched eight shutout innings and the team gave him enough offense to get him the win.

The one-game winning streak ended last night. But they're still in third place in the division. That's something, I guess...
Hope Karstens can at least pitch a good game tonight after his last start, which reminded me of the JK of previous years.

Wound up taking two of three from the Giants. That is good.
After a day off, they will be going against the Brewers, who always kill them. That is bad.

They'll be on national TV tomorrow at 4 p.m., FOX. They're 1-0 on national TV so far this year, so that's a good sign!

Too bad they couldn't have remained about five games back, this would be a huge series.
Still it would be nice to beat the Brewers. Once.

Anyone going to be at the game on Sunday the 21st? I'm going to be in town that weekend, and the girl and I are going to stop by PNC that weekend to watch 2 teams I honestly could not give a shit about. I just like PNC, lol.

Finishing .500 is beginning to look like a pretty big chore. SMH

Can we ship the Brewers back to the American League where they belong??

Fuck the Brewers. It is impossible for them to win against them. Or anyone with the hitting "performance" they put up in that series.

Pirates sign BOTH #1 and #2 picks Cole and Bell!!! This is excellent news. Bell insisted that he was going to college at Texas and told everyone not to draft him. Finally looks like a gamble for the Pirates pays off. Money not announced yet but I'm sure it's a ton for both.
EDIT: Just read that Cole gets an 8 million signing bonus and Bell gets 5 million. About 17 million spent on this years draft class. Nutting is cheap but you gotta admit, he has spent a lot on the draft the last few years.

Awesome news. Didn't think they'd get Bell.

Glad to hear this. I was thinking that they get these bonuses plus millions per year. Not hardly. No less than Pedro the Great himself got maybe 6 mil signing, but is only making 6-800K per year now. So it's not like he is making 6 mil each year. If these players work out for 13 millions, they will be bargains.

Great work in the draft + win over the BitchCards = best day in quite some time for the Pirates.

Deja Vu! Jerry Meals behind the plate and the game goes extra innings... Only 11 innings this time but the Bucs beat the Cards for the 2nd night in a row on a Garrett Jones bomb into the river.
Oh, missed this the other night but with 41 games remaining, the Pirates already have 1 more win than they did last year.

Unfortunately, tonight looks like a lost cause, as Pittsburgh simply doesn't sweep opponents. That and Maholm has (a) sucked his past few starts AND (b) is going against the Cards, who own him with Pujois being something like .950 with infinity home runs against him.

Well, I was right about the non-sweep. Which, if an vBookie prop, would be like 1/100 odds, so it's not like I was going out on a limb or anything...

Our long nightmare is over!! The Pirates beat the Brewers 9-2 in the nightcap of a doubleheader. Now all we need to do is rip off 35 in a row against the Brewers to get back to even with them.
Tabata with 5 hits tonight. He's been on fire since signing that new contract. Speaking of which. Who's his agent? He should be fired for that contract--what a great deal for the Pirates. Locking him up through at least 2016 for 15 million and with club options till 2019? He must really love it here. I mean, yea, I could live on 15 million for 5 years work but still, a great deal for the Pirates.

Hey, they beat the Brewers! After losing the first game and falling behind 2-0 in the top of the first, it looked like the same ol', same ol' against the Brewers. Seven-run innings cure all.
