I was having a great day and this just ruined it. I'm not sure I can even watch Ohio State for eight weeks now. Thats how bad this hurts.

Awful for Turner and Ohio State. I really hate to see this happen, especially to a kid like Turner.

Make stupid post attempting to be humorous, then look like a fool when there is a serious injury.

No chance. OSU will struggle to score points. 50 might be the new average.

Why would Turner come back for an NIT bid. I think we've seen the last of Evan Turner.
^^^ Funny man....... Dumb man.

Turner will be out for 8 weeks.
Does that mean he can start to work out after 8 weeks?
Does that mean he can start to shoot around after 8 weeks?
Does that mean he can jump and run after 8 weeks?
Does that mean he can play after 8 weeks?
After 8 weeks will he play with the same aggression he did before the injury?
Does that mean after 8 weeks he will be playing at the same level he was playing at before the injury?
Psychologically it might take 6 months before being able to "play" without thinking about his back.

I'm afraid we won't see the old Evan Turner THIS SEASON, even if he can "play" after 8 weeks.

Transverse fractures in two vertebra. In layman's terms a A BROKEN BACK! Turner's draft status takes a HUGE tumble. His status goes from a Top Five pick to who knows where. Do you take a player in the first round who has/had a BROKEN BACK, without seeing him at his best?

If I was Evan Turner I wouldn't risk playing this year, unless I can play at the same level I was playing before the injury for MANY games at the end of the season. Anything less than that would hurt, if not ruin, my draft status. It's not like I was a Greg Oden. I would come back for my Senior year and disprove any qualms the NBA GM's might have about my BROKEN BACK.

My brother had the same kind of fractures, only in his neck, when he landed in the pit attempting 14' in the Pole Vault when he was Sophomore in HS. Psychologically, he was never the same athlete.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Evan Turner.

This is not something to be flippant about Prescott.

May not want to use that source anymore. Broken vertebrae show up as a positive on an x-ray of the back.

Man, what a shame. One of the greatest players in college basketball and we won't get to see him play for at least 8 weeks.

I listened to the game on the radio. After the game they interviewed Matta and he said the x-rays were negative. He said they were going to do a CAT scan to see if there were any internal injuries. I'm sure Matta then went to the locker room and gave his players the same information, thus the Titus Tweet. Matta was either given bad info or the CAT scan found something the x-rays missed.

It wasn't meant to be funny and time will tell if it is dumb. I think OSU tanks without Turner, which gives him little reason to return this season.

It's dumb if "we've seen the last of Evan Turner", means we will NEVER see him again. You credited my post for proving your point. Did you read it carefully? THE most important point in my post is that we HAVE NOT "seen the last of Evan Turner". We will see him next season.

We will see him next season.

This depends on how well he heals and how high he is projected to be in the draft. The NBA knows what he is as a player and their medical people will determine where he would be drafted if he opts for the draft.

It would be cool if he stays to lead Sullinger and the other recruits.

Terrible loss. One of my favorite players to watch. I hate to see anybody go down like that though.. It happened to me in high school, but I landed on my shoulder and only suffered a dislocation.. However, to this day, if I get hit wrong playing a pick up game or any kind of contact sport, it still gets knocked around and hurts like hell for a few seconds..

I wasn't trying to be humerous, but when I hear a player falling after a dunk and that the x-rays were negative, I don't automatically say to myself "he's goin pro" lol

That is terrible news and totally sucks for what looked to be a very promising year. With how solid the Big Ten is this year losing one of the best players in the nation will kill OSU. I think they'll still be alright but Buford and Hill and Simmons really need to step up big time. If they can be a bubble team and Turner return I think they can make the tournament, but it just really sucks for Turner as he was looking like he had a great chance to be an All-American and the Big Ten POTY and now that all goes down the drain. If this means his stock will plummet and he'll return next year then wow, OSU will be fantastic next year and he can put himself back in the top 10 or top 5. First things first though, hopefully he's able to get back to normal at least.

Votto- gets dizzy spells/emotional problems and misses much of the season
Tyler Moeller-gets beat up in a Florida bar
Evan Turner-freak accident on a dunk

Terrible news. Feel so bad for him. And he seems like such a good kid, which makes it even worse as a fan.

OSU struggles mightely going forward.

As for his draft status, I don't know if it will necessarily hurt him. There is enough tape on him, and he showed that he has improved his game this year. I would imagine this is an injury that he can come back from fully recovered and shouldn't cause him problems in the future.

Yeah, I agree. A freak injury like that isn't going to affect draft status at all. Not to mention, he should be back for the stretch run in Feb/March.

THis injury will do nothing to Turner draft status if he goes pro. Its not an injury that will affect anything. Once it heals, its healed and he will be fine. As Matta said, Turner, at this point in the season, was arguably he best college basketball player in the country. The pros know what he is capable of doing. As I mentioned, this is such a bummer for Turner himself, and OSU basketball this year.
THis team will continue to compete...Matta is not one to ever let a team get down. I don't think this team will ever "tank". But it will be very difficult for them to compete nite in and nite out with the top Big Ten teams this year. Take your best player, a potential all american out of your lineup, it will hurt any team big time. I was looking so forward to this season...this is big downer.

He'll be back towards the end of the regular season given the timeline. David Lighty needs to step up now like Turner did for him last year.

There wasn't any doubt in my mind, Turner was going to be an AA and possible Player of the Year.

Now, his draft status won't be hurt at all by this injury. He'll heal and be back to normal.

OSU will Buford and Lighty to step up to help Diebler with scoring. Guys like PJ and Simmons will become needed impact players because that is 30 mpg that will be given out to bench players like these guys. OSU will not tank, but they won't contend for the B10 title without their best player. Just make it through until late Feb/March, get Turner back and make some noise in the B10 tournament if possible.
