I saw the Rudy Gay and Atlanta Hawks rumors on RealCavsFans. Josh Smith was pure speculation on Amico's part as his source wouldn't reveal what players were involved. I know Marvin Williams has been talked about between the Cavs/Hawks in the past and wouldn't be surprised if that doesn't resurface again. I would prefer they stay away from Marvin Williams.

Truthfully at this point I feel the same way about the Cavs organization as I do about the Browns. I finally have faith they'll make the right moves, so I haven't even bothered with any speculation, I'm just waiting to see what happens Thursday.

I want NOTHING to do with Smith or Williams. Teague has been talked about in the past as well although I dont see that happening with Irving sitting there at 1

No surprise here

Sources: Cavs committed to Kyrie Irving

The Cavaliers, after taking the temperature of the Timberwolves and Jazz to see if Kyrie Irving could somehow fall to No. 4 in Thursday's NBA draft, are now committed to the former Duke guard for the first pick and are fielding offers for the fourth pick, league sources said Monday.

Good to know the cavs are going with what most consider the top prospect.

I'll never take what Rizzo says seriously again. Been burned too many times believing his BS. His reason for not wanting Irving is fucking stupid. Also he's a god damn moron.

haha. I just read that Kanter's stock is dropping and that the Cavs are really starting to warm up to Jonas. There are so many rumors out there right now, no idea what to beleive.

I agree, but it is worth noting. He cited two "sources" on his Kanter news.

How in the Hell can Riz read the teleprompter with Hammer's sack covering his eye sockets?

Good. Glad the Cavs are taking Irving. With the 4th pick, I hope we still somehow can put together a package that gets us the #2 and grabs Williams as well. If not, let's go with Kanter.

Via Draft Express:
Valanciunas also gets some opportunities from time to time in post-up situations, an area that he's not nearly as proficient. He lacks the girth to establish deep position inside the paint at the Euroleague level, even if that doesn't stop him from trying.

Against weaker opponents, he can put the ball down once or twice and dig a bit for better position to get his jump hook off (showing nice touch and great extension around the rim), but he doesn't really have the strength to finish through contact against high-level opponents.

He needs to work on his left hand and get quicker and more proficient with his foot-work and counter moves, as he doesn't look terribly natural creating his own shot down low.

Valanciunas is largely untested outside of 15 feet at the moment. He's taken one jumper this season—a surprisingly confident looking 3-pointer with the shot clock running out against Zalgiris. It went in.
The rest of Valanciunas' game needs refinement, particularly his ball-handling and passing abilities. He turns the ball over at a pretty high rate and definitely has a ways to go in terms of improving his basketball IQ and overall experience level.

The place this seems to show up most is on the defensive end. Valanciunas is a major presence in the paint with his terrific size and length. His mobility helps him out quite a bit as well. He can contest shots around the rim and has good timing for blocking shots, even if he's not what you would call a high-flyer.

With that said, he's not the smartest, most reactive player you'll find right now, especially on the perimeter, which can lead to some poor rotations and open shots for opponents.

Inside the paint, Valanciunas is a frequent target for opposing teams to post up due to his narrow frame and lack of experience, especially in the Euroleague, where almost every team has a bulky old school back-to-the-basket pivot who can simply overpower Valanciunas in one-on-one situations.
Now, I know this is just one source, but read that and tell me you're confident with his ability to play against NBA bigs. I don't care how much "potential" he has, I'm just not willing to use a #4 pick on him.

Here's a blog talking about some of the guys the Cavs may target and a little on Lebron. It's from Mantooth's "boy toy" Kenny Roda....

I've read this breakdown from Draftexpress also. Most of what this reads to me could be said on a majority of post prospects that are 19 years old and playing in the 2nd best professional league in the world. Young college post prospects don't get overpowered because they are playing against a bunch of skinny 18-20 year olds like themselves. While it isn't guaranteed that he will add the necessary bulk, strength is an issue with most young bigs. He has the length and motor to be successful from all reports.

I am concerned about his lack of offensive polish in the post and the lack of any mid range game, but in this draft I don't think he is a reach at #4. He has ? just like Kanter and Vesely. He still does not have a buyout settled w/ his current team, which could be the biggest drawback at this point.

He has nowhere near the offensive or rebounding skillset of Kanter and nowhere near the athleticism or ball-handling of Vesely. I don't want motor at #4. I can get motor in the 2nd round.

True, but he is also probably the only one of those 3 that is a true 5. To me Kanter seems to be more of a 4(could be said for most 5's in the NBA anymore) and Vesely is a 3/4 hybrid.

Not sure if this has been mentioned or not

Chad Ford:

Valanciunas update: Sources say buyout agreement close, however, buyout won't allow Valanciunas to play in NBA next season.

Derrick Williams was in Cleveland today meeting with Dan Gilbert. So was Kanter and Brandon Knight.

Assuming Kanter and Williams are off the table, I wouldn't be opposed to Valanciunas at #4. It's not like the Cavs need him immediately as they won't be contending for even the playoffs for the next 2-3 years.
