Well they're sure as shit going to swing and miss on a few. But I could name MANY more #1 picks that were much better than guys picked right behind them that were debatable #1 picks. How about LeBron...Darko anyone? Irving is the #1 pick and WILL be picked by the Cavs--all of this conversation is probably pointless, they're going to pick him.

But none of them dropped 28 in an NCAA tournament game. I'm a big fan of only one aspect of the NBA age limit and that's forcing these hyped high schoolers to actually compete against more similarly skilled players than they did in high school.

Of course we'll never know for sure, but I'd be willing to bet both Kwame Brown and Olowokandi wouldn't have been top picks had they had to play a year in college.

As they damn well should. He's the best player in this draft and gives them a legit PG. I don't get the people who say he's not a Rose or Wall. How the hell do they know? First off, he's more of a true PG than both of those guys and secondly he's a much better shooter than they were at this point in their careers. He's also got the quick speed and good size for a PG.

Then they don't want the two players that will help them the most

Explain who helps them more than Irving, and why, and I will then drop a nuke on your argument.

He will probably say Derrick Williams and Kemba Walker, who Mike Wilbon thinks we should take.

Fire away, I'm curious to see your response. And in your response, include who you would take at 4.

Is this directed at me or gibby? If it's me, I want to see his response to my question first.

It's directed as you with me assuming that gibby is going to say Williams and Walker or Williams and Knight.

Would you give up hickson or av and your second round pick to move up.... just to make sure you can get williams?

Knr is asking this question to listeners

I wouldnt either, if you look at the other teams needs, there is a decent chance that he slides to them at 4. Who knows...

Yahoo Sports has a mock that has them using the fourth pick to get some Lithuanian guy (Jonas something) who they describe as the best big man. 19 years old and 6'11/245ish. They have Williams going to Minnesota with the #2, but note that could change as it looks like the T'Wolves will be looking at trade possibilities.

I'd trade AV to move up.

Watched some videos on the Jonas kid and he looks to be very good. Has put up great statistics and has gotten better each year. Nice size and athletic ability.

But once again, he is even more of a PF than Williams. AV or Jamison would have to go to open up minutes for the younger guys of JJ and our pick.

Broussard just said on ESPN:

"Gilbert really likes Williams but he'll let Grant make the decision"
"Likely to be Irving"
"Chance they could package their trade exception with the #4 for the #2"
"One of the 3 international prospects will be considered at 4"
"Drafting Williams likely means a Hickson trade"

I do not like the last part. Why trade a 22 year old player, who is progressing, while you still have an overpaid AV and an aging/overpaid Jamison? Stock up on the young talent with JJ/Williams/Irving etc and build the team.

Cavs will get Irving and Williams. Wait and see. And if the Heat lose to the Bulls, Gilbert will end up a prophet.

Williams is a 3 in the NBA, he's too small to be a 4. Therefore I see no reason to get rid of Hickson if they get Williams.

Eh, I wouldn't go prophet level.

The Heat are still going to be more of a contender than the Cavaliers next season.

I don't know. They probably see Williams as a 4 and want to commit to making one of them the guy at his position. Which makes sense, Hickson is getting to the point where you either give him minutes or he's going somewhere else anyways. And Williams, as a #2 pick, will demand plenty of minutes. Who knows.

This. I dont understand why people have such a problem with JJ Hickson. It has taken him some time but the kid has potential. He didnt have a great year but 13 and 8 isnt that bad. I think JJ will end up being a 15 and 10 guy, I'd be pretty happy with that. If you watched him at all from his rookie season to this past season you can see the improvement in his game. His jumper isnt quite there yet but it has improved, his defense and rebounding are getting better as well. I'm not saying the kid is going to be an all-star but I think the potential is there.

Anyways, I would rather keep that 4th pick and package the TPE and a player to get into the lottery next year.

Let's assume Cleveland does try to trade Hickson after drafting Williams and Irving.

What do they target in return for Hickson?
