I just feel these are the 5 best teams in the country. I don't think anyone outside of that list has a snowballs chance in hell at winning the championship.

Does the winner of the ACCT (if it's Carolina or Duke) get the last #1?
So ND gets the last #1 over Carolina if the Heels win the ACCT?Laley23;708768 wrote:Ive thought, and continue to think this. Which means it will be ND and Pitt if UNC wins it.

I also think that's possible. Duke is a lock for the last #1 if they win it though.
I would think the Horns are out of contention for a #1, but if they beat Kansas, things could get interesting.Laley23;708773 wrote:Correct. I dont see anyone else who can vie for it. Texas has to be eliminated right??

Duke is the unanimous fourth one seed if the Blue Devils win their 10th ACC title in 13 years on Sunday. With a loss in the Big East semi-finals, and now six losses, I think Notre Dame would also lose out on the one seed if North Carolina finishes the season strong and takes the ACC. If the Heels were to win their third ACC title in 13 years on Sunday, that would likely give North Carolina two wins over Duke in the last week and enough momentum to move into a top seed.
With that said, both North Carolina and Duke could easily lose today. Tobacco Road experienced such a grave occurrence in the 1979 NCAA tournament, infamously dubbed "Black Sunday," when both #1 seeded North Carolina and #2 seeded Duke fell in their second round match-ups to Penn and St. John's, respectively, on the same day in the East Region. The "Black Sunday" losses terminated what many believed to be a destined meeting between North Carolina and Duke in the East Regional Final in Greensboro. For the sake of those with a vested interest in the rivalry, it was probably providence that the confrontation never happened. The two schools, of course, have never met in the NCAAs.
