Cliff Lee throws his 2nd consecutive complete game shutout.
He has allowed 8 hits in the past 18 innings.

Charlie said fuck a pitch count as Lee throws 126 pitches.

Is this the beginning of the Cards' slide?

Man, I hope so.

And Pirates fans. They're only 3 back, so still in contention.

Doesnt matter how bad the cards get, unless cinci can start playin better than .500 ball they wont gain much ground.

But no one's losing ground. Hell, Cincy and the Pirates have been at .500 ball for the last couple weeks and they're GAINING on the Brewers and Cards because they're both slumping. I like it when adequate/mediocre is good enough...because with the Pirates, it's hard to hope for much more than that.

If Atlanta plays .500 ball the rest of the season, they finish with 86 wins. If Cinci goes .500 the rest of the season, they will have a good chance of winning their division.

Jim Riggleman resigned after today's 1-0, giving the Nationals their 11rd win in 12 games. He asked the club to pick up the option on his contract for 2012 and they responded with a "bump that."

Not even the Pirates have had moments this bizarrely sad. Unless the years of David Littlefield counts as one long, extended moment. In which case, this is a distant second.

wow. I guess he was trying to strike while the iron was hot. Should have done it a bit sooner, he may have had the Marlins job! lol

Willy Mo Pena, brought up just to DH in the AL parks, just lauched his 2nd HR of the season. Hit a laser in Comerica in the top if the 8th to give the D'Backs the lead (for the moment) 7-6.

Just announced, 454 feet. And it was on a fucking rope, down the left field line.

Pena had 21 HRs in the minors this year before the call up. I wonder if Arizona will keep him on the big league club after the AL parks are done.

I don't care if he hits .150 and strikes out 3/4 of the time....his line drives are legendary....I've seen guys hit em a little longer....but they are at the ideal trajectory for maximum distance....I've never seen anyone hit 450+ foot line drives.

Seriously, his first game in 3 years he hits a ball slightly opposite field and the CF barely moved. 2 games later he hits a ball in freaking Detroit (where HR go to die)....and he hits a ball 100 ft over the fence....on a line.

I love athletes that can do stuff no one else can do.....Wily Mo is one of them.....regardless of his overall MLB worth.

Verlander can pitch the Tigers into a 1st place tie tonight, with Penny for the Tigers and Carmona pitching for the Indians tomorrow, could we see a new leader in the AL central. Choo out with a broken thumb just when it looked like he was starting to hit, Hafner a pinch hitter for 7 more games, Indians and Giants Sunday night could go extra innings with nobody scoring until the errors decide it.

Jurrjens is the first to 10 wins in the NL after Hamels fails to get it done for the Phillies earlier today.

CC this afternoon and Verlander with a carreer high 14 K's tonight for their 10th. Verlander has won 6 of 6 and allowed only 4 total earned runs in those 6 games.
