Though youd like to see the 2 big guns signed, Gonzo and Crawford do more than 2/10 if you score 9 runs. What the heck is wrong with those guys (moreso Crawford)???

Crawford blows donkey. Gonzalez will be fine.

Seriously though, a .295 lifetime hitter and he's hitting .133 in 14 games. It was an issue ever since they signed him, where are you going to best utilize him? You've got to keep Gonzalez/Youkilis in the 3/4, right? And Pedroia is one of the only guys worth a damn on the team thus far, so moving him from the 2 to lower in the batting order would be dumb. If I'm Francona, I keep Crawford hitting in the 7 spot and force him to get himself out of his funk. I expect he'll turn it around soon, but damn it's getting frustrating to watch.

The biggest issue with the piss-poor start has been pitching, but Beckett, Lester and as of today, Matsuzaka have turned in good performances. If those three can keep it going plus Buchholz/Fatty McLackey giving a good performance every couple of starts, the wins will start to pile up for this team.

Red Sox will be fine..national media needed an early season story, and that was it. I fully expect them to be playing in the postseason

Id go with:
2 - Pedroia
3 - Crawford
4 - Gonzalez
5 - You-Kill-Us
6 - Ortiz
7 - Varitek

Leadoff, not sure. Ellsbury is ideal, but he has sucked for over a year. Drew is not a lead-off man. Maybe Lowrie...at least ride the hot streak out I guess.

If Crawford isn't hitting there is no way you can have him batting third. Bump him down to sixth and move everyone up or flip Youk up to third. Hopefully for the Sox he gets going and then they can move him back up towards the top.

Did anyone know Crawford was offered a full ride to UCLA for bball, and he commited to Nebraska to play football before being drafted in the 2nd round?

What a beast of an athlete.

Here is his info, fwwi:

"Crawford, a native of the Fifth Ward area of Houston, attended Jefferson Davis High School in Houston, Texas,[1] and was a letterman in football, basketball, and baseball. In baseball, he batted .638 as a senior. Crawford was offered scholarships to play basketball as a point guard at UCLA.[2] He also had an option to play college football as an option quarterback at Nebraska,[2] USC, Oklahoma, Florida, and Tulsa. He had originally signed a letter of intent to play football for Nebraska but he turned down both offers in favor of a baseball career."

I wasn't inferring he was an option QB because he was black, that's just what I thought I remembered him signing as.

Actually I would argue the opposite of this. The media was going out of its way to say "Nope, nothing to see here, the Red Sox will be fine."

I don't remember one place where somebody was saying that the Red Sox were finished. In fact, some friends and I were joking that the Red Sox could be mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, and ESPN/Baseball Tonight would still argue that they will still be fine for the playoffs.

Tim Lincecum with a no-no through 5, versus the best team in the bigs right now, the Rockies.

I took it as if he/you were insinuating only black QBs are fit for the option. My B.

Atlanta has now hit 18 HRs on the year, 16 of which have been solo shots.
