Who is feeding Sully? Check out the link below. Although Diebler doesnt' show for many asst. in the final stat column, he by FAR is the player on OSU who looks to get the ball into Sully, almost everytime he touches the ball. He was the one who made the pass to Sully vs NW to get the game winning FT. Post feeds don't show in the stat column and more times than not, don't equate to an asst. because once a post player makes any kind of move or gets fouled..its not going to be an asst.
Not sure who said he takes poor shots...but wtf? He rarely forces a shot. Definately no more than anyone else on the team, if at that.
The issue here with Diebler, as I have pointed out many a time..is about expectations. Diebler is what he is, a shooter who stretches the defense. Whether he scores or not, teams cannot double off or help out. No matter what some may think, this does stretched the defense and open up the middle for Sully. That is a fact. Accept him for what he is and move on. He is a team player, rarely forces shots and does what Matta has asked of him.

Don't remember what game it was, maybe Minnesota, but the camera panned down the bench and it showed Kecman wearing a huge wristwatch. Not sure why but I thought it was pretty funny. He knew he wasn't going to play and probably didn't even bother putting his jersey on.

You do realize that Kecman is out for the season with his 3rd ACL tear and it is questionable if he will ever play again?

I'd like to see Diebler come out a few minutes a game and get Lauderdale in with Craft, Buford, Lighty and Sully on the floor with him.

Again, when someone's biggest strength is feeding the post, that's embarrassing. You mean to tell me Diebler deserves 35+ minutes a game because he's good at feeding the post?

No one had crazy expectations of Diebler, that's where you continue to be wrong. I don't care if he scores, however, he needs to do something to help his team win. That's the key. Do SOMETHING, ANYTHING. Guys have off nights, but can make up for it in other ways. Diebler is totally ineffective if he's not shooting the ball. Again, I'm not saying he needs to make shots, however he does need to shoot, because it's all he has to offer.

Call in to Matta's radio show and tell him Diebler should sit unless he forces shots like Buford, Lighty, and Thomas. Its laughable you list being a glue guy and a leader as strengths of Lighty. You don't think Diebler is either of those two things?
Diebler said he shot at night with Kosta Koufos their freshman year. After Koufos left for the NBA, Diebler roomed with Evan Turner and converted him into a gym rat, as well. That work helped build Turner into the national player of the year and No.2 pick in the NBA draft last year.
"One time Evan and I were here until, like, 2 in the morning," Diebler said. "A lot of times we'd shoot and just sit and talk. It's good to have teammates like that. It helps you stay motivated."
Since Turner left, Diebler has dragged Aaron Craft to his after-hours club. Shooting was one thing Matta told Craft he had to improve after offering him a scholarship two years ago. Craft is the only freshman ranking among the 10 best in three-point percentage (.429) in Big Ten play.

No leadership skills whatsoever and is probably plotting to tear the team apart by doing things like that.

Ohio State teammate David Lighty said he thought Diebler "was going to score 50 points a game" for the Buckeyes.
Did you even read the article that started this thread or did you just see "Diebler" in the thread title and start foaming at the mouth? Obviously Lighty is likely exaggerating a little bit for you to think that no one had crazy expectations of Diebler is retarded. You are blinded by your hatred and jealousy.

For someone who played the game, and claims to understand the game..you are completely clueless at times about understanding roles, and fitting the pieces of the puzzle together that equates to having a very good team on the floor. Thank goodness Matta does understand this concept.

So, would you rather have Diebler burping up shots, as Thomas would be doing...or feeding the best player in the floor in Sullinger? Diebler has sacrificed his scoring and number of shots to do what he is doing, getting the ball inside to the franchise player. Thank goodness he did this at NW or OSU would have suffered a loss there.

I wish Diebler were more aggressive, I'm not sure how else to put that. Force shots? No, not at all. However, he could get himself a lot more open looks by moving without the ball or taking it aggressively to the rim and getting to the free throw line.

Diebler hasn't sacrificed anything at all. That seriously just made me lol. Sacrifice? No, Turner sacrificed last year by doing everything. Diebler isn't aggressive enough to be sacrificing anything. This is by far the worst point you have ever made. Diebler sacrifices? Give me a break.

And I do understand his role and his value to the team. I'm not saying he shouldn't play at all. There are games where he should play 30+ minutes, however it's the games where he doesn't show up and Matta is too stubborn to go to his bench where I have the problem. I said it last year that Diebler would hurt them, and he did when he didn't show up against Tennessee. I think this OSU team is better equipped to overcome a disappearing act by Diebler, but that doesn't mean it's okay.



Again, someone go back and watch where Sullinger made the 3 and tell me what in the world Diebler was doing? It's inexcusable, by someone who everyone claims has such a high basketball IQ.

Watch the play where the Wisconsin player caught it on the wing and went straight around Diebler for a layup.

There are just 4-5 plays a game that are inexcusable for a senior who has played as many minutes as Diebler has.

No, I do not. Not at all. A leader doesn't disappear in games. A leader helps his team win, in one way or another. A glue guy makes others around him better.

Its sad that you only point out when Diebler makes a mistake. Everyone on the team has given up a lay up. Everyone has failed to box out. Everyone has made a bad pass. Everyone has taken bad shots. It seems (and seems is too weak of a word because its clear that you do) that you watch only Diebler and take notes on when he doesn't so something right. I guarantee you there are 4-5 plays a game by everyone on the court that are inexcusable for the amount of basketball they have played. I've never seen you criticize any other player for 2 years now. Everyone else on the team is perfect in your eyes?

No mention of Craft dribbling off his leg or taking dumb fouls? Or when he caught a pass near the top of the key with a guy running at him and forced a shot instead of swinging the ball to a wide open Diebler on the wing? He was a valedictorian and a quarterback and a point guard who has a high basketball IQ. No outrage from you?

dynasty would want Thomas because he is a player who has no problem shooting the second the ball touches his hands. That would obviously improve the team immediately in his eyes.

And this made me LOL. I could do what your doing with EVERY other player, every game. Your boy Craft was eaten up defensively in the second half. He has also turned the ball over WAY too many times in the past 5/6 games as well. But I don't hear you whining about him? Lighty didn't particularly play well either. You don't say much about him? Buford did his typical disappearing act late in the game. He was also BAD vs Tenn last year. But nothing. Why not? Because you always have, and still do have a bone up your ass for Diebler. Everyone on here knows it as well. Get over it.

I'm curious (because I really don't know) what were the other three buckeyes on the floor doing when Sully took that 3? (What a play by him, by the way. He certainly did not quit.)

He doesn't know. His eyes don't leave Diebler. He didn't even know for sure it was Sullinger that made the shot until he read it on here.

Craft is a freshman, Diebler is a senior. There are different expectations of each. Diebler mistakes are magnified, because he doesn't make plays to make up for them.

Again, I never said Diebler shouldn't play. I just think Matta needs to be open to a substitution when he's not playing well. Whether it's Lauderdale, Thomas or Sibert, I don't care. But you need to have that option.

I personally feel like Diebler would be at this best playing 25 minutes a game.

False. The other guys were crashing for a rebound. Diebler was standing out at half court. I didn't even notice until the replay when they did the full court view.

Read the posts before commenting. I already discussed Lighty and it's comical you would mention Buford, a guy who carried the team for 30 minutes.

Where was Buford the other 10 minutes? You know, when Wisconsin was making a huge comeback? He disappeared but that doesn't matter right? Everything is comical or laughable to you when it goes against your hatred for Diebler. That is funny.

Yes, he did carry them for 30. But the most important part of the game, the last 10 min...he was nowhere to be found. He did the same vs Tenn in NCAA. Started off blistering it first 10 min, then completely disappeared rest of the game. But its OK for him to do this because he did ok during other parts of the game? IS that what your saying? Thats comical...and its nothing but you trying to justify something. Buford has twice the ability, athleticism and potential of Diebler, and most anyone on the floor except Sullinger. He SHOULD be doing what he did, and that includes the last 10 min of the game.
Personally, I'd rather have him show up the last 10 min of the game then the first 30. Chances are, someone else would have stepped up the other 30 min.

And I KNEW you would bring up Craft being a frosh. Guess what, we are 25 games into the season, he isn't a frosh anymore, and really has never played like one. Its ok for you to use that i your arguement when it helps it out. In other cases, you would brush it off. I don't buy intot he frosh thing in this day and age with the way many top frosh play. Nothing but an excuse.

It was a reflection of his mindset that whole game. He just wasn't into it. He wasn't aggressive.

Craft is a freshman. That's a fact. The fact that he hasn't hit the "freshman wall" is impressive.

And are we really criticizing a guy who led the team in scoring? How idiotic can you be? Okay, you take your guy who failed to show up for 40 minutes and I'll take the guy who led the team in scoring.
