Aaron Craft or Mike Conley?
David Lighty or Ron Lewis?
William Buford or Daquan Cook?
Jared Sullinger or Greg Oden?

I'm taking Craft, Lewis, Buford & Sullinger.

Interesting question and the only one that I am definite on is Jared Sullinger over Oden, and I really don't know why.

Very tough call on the others...

Conley over Craft
Lighty as a 5th year senior over Lewis
Buford over Cook because Cook's college career was a bust.
Oden over Sullinger because his defensive presence allowed OSU to pressure the ball.

How soon some forget how great Oden was when healthy.

That probably depends on who the teammates are. This OSU team is good enough defensively that Oden's presence in the middle wouldn't be as imperative.

The one I'm most definite on is Lighty over Lewis. Lightys defense gives him a huge edge over Lewis as well as leadership in general. His offensive game is not too far behind Lewis and I think for the most part he's more consistent than Lewis was.

The one Im most solid with is also David Lighty!! Easy choice there fellas. Lighty has a projected #40 selection in the 2nd round. Lewis didnt sniff the NBA.

Craft (to get more than one year)
Lighty
Buford (see Craft)
Oden

Not to mention Lewis shot under 43% from the field and under 35% from 3, and often did too much 1 on 1, and isn't near the defender Lighty is. I think Lighty/Jamar Butler is probably better as well as Buford/Lewis(no offense OP, I liked the comparisons). Though I think in both of those it's still Lighty/Buford.

Just my opinion. Too many ppl are linking Oden to his injury prone NBA career. Unless OSU gets to the NCAA final game, Sullinger didnt take his team as far as Oden did.

Edit: I guess it is about 50/50.

Sullinger is playing with some talent in his own right, but Oden had two other first rounders along with Lewis and Butler. There was a better team around him, and that's saying a lot because this OSU team is very good.

Oden was playing with 2 other pros. Sully is playing with 2. Lighty was on both (amazingly haha).

They are both playing on unreal teams in terms of individual talents, but there is no doubt in my mind, that this team has more talent outside Sully and then the 07 team did outside Oden.

Craft: Conley is more athletic, but both have proven to get to the hole equally effectively on the college level and I'll take Crafts defense any day. Both are great passers and can occasionally hit the 3 if necessary

Lighty: IMO this one isn't that close. Outside of Lewis' shot against Xavier, Lighty has had better production, and this year has shown the ability to take over scoring when needed

Cook: Cook is a better pure scorer, IMO and a better 3 point shooter (won the NBA 3 point competition). He didn't really do much in college, but if you're asking me to choose between Buford and Cook as pure scoring options, I'm taking Cook.

Oden: Sully averages 2 more ppg, rebounding is a wash, but Oden had 3.3 blocks per game. That kind of defensive presence is absolutely crucial, and Oden could score easily with both hands inside as well. Probably the toughest decision for me, but the fact that we're talking about choosing between Oden and Sully shows you what kind of recruiter Thad is at a football school.

Conley with 26 pts and 11 assists last night versus the Orlando Magic. He played a pretty darn big role in getting OSU to the title game as well.

The thing about Craft and Conley is interesting. Craft is a better defender and can hit the 3. Conley was a better penetrater and knew how to feed Oden (not that Craft cant pass). Conley also had the mid-range jumper when he couldnt get tot he hole, but overall I dont think Conley is so much better on the offensive end that its an easy choice, but I would take him over Craft.

Reason why I take Sullinger over Oden:

Put Sullinger on the 2006 team, and they might actually have been better

Put Oden on this year's team and they are not as good

I have to disagree with this. I think alot of us are prisoners of the moment.

Greg Oden was a force in the paint. I'm not saying that Sully isnt, I would take Oden because of his defensive presence. Greg Oden dominated two VERY good NBA players in the final game against Florida in Horford and Noah. I have yet to see Sully play that well against opponents with that much talent

Greg Oden is without question the better defender. I can see a good argument for either player, but for whatever reason I like Sullinger.
