Dinner at Brewery Vivant, because I'm in Grand Rapids for business. Tripel was meh, but the imperial stout and barrel strong Belgian ale was great. Founders tomorrow

Tried two new beers I had never heard of before while I was in Chicago this week.
First I had a "Casper White Stout" by James Page Brewery. No joke, it looked like a cheap light beer when you poured it out of the can. But it was a stout, and it tasted like white chocolate. It was fucking fantastic.
I also had a "Not Your Father's Root Beer" by Small Town Brewery. It's 10% abv, but literally tastes just like you're drinking a Barq's root beer. It was absolutely amazing...and so dangerous. I had 3 at dinner and was feeling really good. Tasted even better since it was on the boss's tab.

I've also had this and it's exactly like you said, tastes like root beer and is dangerous as hell.sherm03;1638416 wrote:I also had a "Not Your Father's Root Beer" by Small Town Brewery. Fortunately I believe they don't sell them outside of individual bottles. A six pace would wreck most

Edit: meh. At 5.5 abv and 12 IBU, this is wayyyy too light. I like porters/stouts to be deep, rich, and thick. This is almost too watery.

Swung by the store and saw that Rivertown has released their pumpkin beer. Had to pick up a sixer. Seems early for pumpkin beer, but I'm OK with that.
