Mikkeller Beer Hop Breakfast

An oatmeal stout with the bitterness of an IPA. I love this beer. Simply love it. Only drawback would be the presentation. For a stout, the head is oddly absent, and what head there is dissipates quickly.

I went to a bells tap take over last night, it was fucking awesome...The batch 9000 was amazing, great flavors. The cherry was great too, interesting beer. The cherry flavor wasn't over powering and it's not a fruity beer. The Black note was really good, it tasted like a muted version of the 9000. The 9000 is one of the best beers i've had.

I've had all 3 of those Raw Dawg and they are all excellent. Love the Black Note. (Had it on draft) The Cherry Stout is a very cool beer, just love that hint of cherry. And the Batch 9000, nuff said.

All of them were bourbon barrel aged as well. Was an awesome time.

That sounds fantastic. Are these beers of a gravity that can be sold in Ohio?

If so, I must find them.

Got a bit lucky yesterday at the store. In the beer section I went over to a small end rack where I've been finding lots of nice bottles lately and I see one bottle of The Oracle just sitting there. Last one on the shelf, I double checked in the Bell's area and nothing. Been wanting to try this forever, can't wait to drink it later.

I was lucky enough to try this at a Jungle Jim's Beerfest. Thinking it was on draft in 2013. Same year Fat Head came to the Cincy Area. I've never seen Oracle in bottle form.

I'm in Philadelphia for the next couple days.

Going to try to find time to search the city for stores that sell high-gravity craft beer. I'd like to try a few that I don't normally get in Ohio.

Any suggestions?

(I'm near the Pennsylvania Convention Center, so the closer, the better, if anyone knows their way around Philly.)

For some reason Phily proper get Russian Rivers in all the time. I would get nothing but that to bring back.

This belongs in the drunj thread, or one of Belly's weekday threads.

Had my first Surly over the weekend, had their Furious. Tasted like Torpedo to me, good but nothing ZOMG amazing. I'd go Torpedo next time for the price.

Had Stone's Wheaton W00tstout this weekend and was happily surprised. Complex but smooth on the finish. Would drink again.

Picked up me a bottle while I was on the east coast this past week, along with BCBS, a Founder's Devil Dancer, Big John, Night Stalker, and a Creme Brulee. Can't wait to try these assuming they all arrive safely.
