I was bummed I couldn't go to Volksfest, so my wife surprised me and took me to Listermann's today.

I got a bomber of the Chickow, and a growler of the Nutcase. I also tried their Peanut Butter and Jelly beer (too much grape flavor) and their Friar Bacon (fucking delicious).

With that only being a few minutes away from the house, I will probably be back there quite often.

We were there last week. I concur. The Nutcase is great.

We went to the 'Best Beer in Cincinnati' at Firehouse Grill in Blue Ash. Had lots of great local beers. Took home a growler of Chickow. Had the Rhinegeist Saber Tooth Tiger. Awesome DIPA. Probably the best IPA in Cincy followed by their Truth. I got to talk to several brewers which is always cool.

I finally found a place somewhat close to me that has great beer with lots of local beers on tap. In other words a new hang out for us.

You probably saw that the Rivertown Pumpkin is out. We drank a growler of it Friday night. Great Pumpkin ale.A little bird, err brewer told me they are going to have some Barrel Aged Pumpkin Wednesday night at the brewery. You know where I'll be.

I had it years ago. Sorry I can't recall what it was like, but Ommegang says all you need to know about that beer. Very solid brewery.

Had 2 new beers over the weekend. One is brewed near where I grew up, Foolproof Brewing - http://www.foolproofbrewing.com/beers

I
had the Barstool - American Golden Ale. It was pretty good, strong flavors. I thought they could've toned down the hop flavor just a bit.

Also had DuClaw Euphoria. It's a toffee nut brown (i'm a sucker for browns). It was pretty good, not the best brown i've ever had but i'd definitely buy it again

Stiegl Radler tonight. It's light as hell (around 3%) but damn if it isn't tasty.

Had a Bruery tasting last night. Saison Tonnellerie, Ebony & Oak, and Bois their 5th anniversary barrel aged old ale. Bois stole the show, holy shit, at 15% it'll knock you on your ass. Also really sweet, but I worked with this one. Caramel, toffe, and dark fruit notes with the bourbon playing in the background. Really complex and amazing.

Ebony & Oak on the other hand, infected POS. Sour as rancid milk. The saison was fantastic. 2 out of 3 ain't bad I suppose.

Can you say Barrel Aged Rivertown Pumpkin ? I can !!! Good stuff. Heavy cinnamon, which was what Rivertown Pumpkin was last year. Just a hint of Bourbon...but no take home growler.

Rogue Chocolate, Peanut Butter, and Banana Voodoo Doughnut Ale

Meh. Overhyped. Don't get me wrong; I'd buy it again, but it's a little thin on the mouth feel for the taste, color, and aroma. I was surprised at how thin it was.

Nice pretty pink bottle, but that's the best part about it. Had it. Medicinal. But it was better than the Maple Bacon...both were a let down, like Rogue has become lately. Shame.

I thought you guys had reviewed the Maple Bacon.

It wasn't horrible, I didn't think. And the price isn't awful for a bomber. I'd buy it again, but not frequently, and not ahead of a slew of others.

Well Heretic WAS the official driver of the FreeHuddle Short Bus back in the day. I'd rather have him stoned and driving then one of our drunk asses driving, as he's a pro.
