Many players from the WCAL have gone to school to play football, but they have trouble hanging in for four years because they are used to being the top dawg on their team or in the county. When they get to a college program and have to sit, it doesn't seem nearly as attractive. I feel that this reason plays a big part in players from the WCAL going to smaller schools to play. These kids love the game, and they want to be on the field. Congrats to Wallace so far on a fantastic season, with three games left, it looks like this will be a memorable senior campaign for him. Will he go division 1? Who knows... don't put the pressure on the kid. Let him enjoy his senior year, and if he goes on to play anywhere in college, congrats regardless of the level he plays at.
I agree with Dr. My son in second year of college ball, D3. He plays cause he loves it. He works hard at it and he is coachable. He never was the biggest, but he always goes all out and the coaches see it. Still, with 100 kids on a team it's hard to see varsity time. Of the 3 varsity games he's dressed for this year he hasn't seen any field time. Still he's happy starting jv and getting the playing time. College football is def a different animal than high school. And he was only a few tackles behind Hoobler who did go D1. I think he's playing defense only at Indiana? Or Ball state? Memory escapes me. Rider posters?

Bauman a better fit in D1....that's ridiculous. The kid is tiny. Size does matter Madman and I am assuming you are from Rittman.

I'm from Orrville and I've seen several kids go D1. Speed would be the only thing that would stop Wallace. They could definitely pack the weight on him and he is fearless.

Good luck to Wallace and to the Cats
Bauman has an extremely high motor and always found a way to make a play on defense. Not saying he would play quarterback, but he would be a decent defensive back with his speed and way of always finding a way to get to the ball

D3 colleges don't offer a lot in financial aid as you all know. I know a few kids who chose not to go because of the cost and they didn't offer what they wanted accademicaly(?) so they chose to not play.

Also, technically, wasn't the question about the WCAL?

Paul, One of Norwaynes sophmore db's is 6'2 and the other is 5'11". They are both fast but neither is noticeably faster than Wallace....and they are both marshmallows. Wallace would make both of them cry if he ever hit them. I know a lot of Norwayne people and they all say that both of those guys playing is an absolute joke. They have far better players on the sideline. The word is the coaches are trying to reduce the number of players they have going both ways. The word is, if anyone wants to exploit a weakness, go after those two.

Marshmallows is a little harsh Nut. It's true that neither is very aggressive and they probably dont belong on the field as starters IMO. It sounds like that's not only my opinion. I know both of the boys and I'm not going to put the names on here. They are good kids and if they were playing on a team that isnt quite as good, they probably wouldnt be starting. I think the coaches are getting them playing time for the future. It could catch up with Norwayne if anyone is able to exploit them. They have some great db's that start on offense but not on d. They do get defensive play time though. I'm sure they will sub if the youngsters get in trouble.

You have just explained one of the traps of playing a weak schedule. Gotta get your 1's playing in game winning situations on a consistent basis.

Sorry there 4RINGZ, but what makes you think that Northwestern will beat Hillsdale. Other than the "Any friday night thing"?

Miyagi, I know quite a few players for Hillsdale personally and unlike some of their fans they aren't looking past anyone. Coach keeps them pretty grounded. Always a good contest between the two teams though. Hope everyone plays injury free.

Yeah, just take Miyagi's predictions with a grain of salt......Miyagi just thinks IF there is an upset this week , this is the game it is going to be....Senior night AT NWN, GO FALC can't bring his bell in etc.....

Northwestern has added alot of fire power with the change in QB. The problem is, the Huskies have no defense. Smithville had the them down 42-14 at one point but they did not give up! Got to give the Huskies credit for keeping their heads up and not quitting! The Smithie defense gave up too many big plays, especially in the second half of that game! Schrock is shoring things up and hopefully it works!

I am a homer and have picked them to win every week. That is what makes me say that.

Hope that helps.

western is big.... but that's it. the one guard Is pretty solid but those big tackles were very average. the d-line was average d5 size. maybe 210 across with the big guys sprinkled in on short yardage

Coach Williams has never had a win at NWN and I am not sure when (or if ever) we last won there. No Falcon fan in the modern era has anything but bad memories of playing at NWN. I for one dread the place. I'm sure Tommy feels the same way and he will not be over looking this game.
