Reps to you big guy for the map. You know the map on which Wooster City Schools are represented by the color blue, and Orrville schools are represented by the color purple.

that would be ok - unless that means we have to take burton city from orrville on the way! We were always glad they drew the line one road south, haha.

Also please note the orange 04 representing Hillsdale.

In the for what it's worth and who really cares division! One thing about school districts. District lines were drawn way back along high water lines. One side of the flooded creek went one way and the other side went the other way. Does not make sense today, because consolidations have blurred the lines, but many years ago it was a factor.

Obviously coaching has had a lot to do with the Wynford program, but even with good coaching your run has been a very rare occurance. Are all your players homegrown? Or have there been alot of move ins.

Ever since the Smithville game, I have been following you guys and rooting for your team.

Amazing win pulled out by your Royals last night against Valley! If next game is in Ashland or Medina I just might have to go support you folks.

Coaching does have alot to do with it. I also think a few other factors like size and tradition also greatly contribute.

Wynford is very interesting, the school itself is something like a mile or two from a city of 13,000 that isn't in its district, yet the district touches 3 sides of the county and a section of another county.

I found the fans to be extremely polite, in fact about 180 degrees opposite of what I'm used to. I couldn't imagine letting fans from some of the Wayne, Medina, Stark and Summit areas sit behind the endzones. Fights and people on the field would occur regularly(IMO). I think that Wynfords populace should be extremely proud of the fact they can allow fans that close to the action.


I wish the Royals well, had a great time visiting their stadium.

There are exceptions to every example.

Teams that are well-coached for long periods of time are going to have stretches like that. Not ever year will be that way of course (ask the same Smithville how 2007 went after a 9-2 team in 2006). It's an odds game.

We Smithville fans will be continuing to cheer you guys on in the State games (and I say "games" because you guys had better get to the championship ), and I've heard many agree with me at how impressed they were with the Wynford faithful, so that makes cheering your boys on all that much sweeter.

Likewise thought they were very respectful fans, after the deficit they overcame Friday night, I think they have a great chance to make it to the big game, and I hope they do.

I posted this on the other thread, but it seems appropriate here as well:

This Norwayne team has done something that no other WCAL team not wearing a big green 'S' on their helmets has done. They've become regional champions. They have DEMANDED the attention of fans and teams state-wide, and they now have it. They're now on the big stage, where the small things will kill you and capitalizing on the small things is vital. It's where the game truly becomes a game of inches, and one solitary mistake will send you home.

These games are won in practice and in personal preparation. But I have confidence in this team. They have shown what it takes to succeed. They have done something no other WCAL team has done in 7 years. They've won the region and FORCED the Ohio high school football programs across the state to recognize their presence.

Okay, Norwayne. You've got everyone's attention. You've shut up the doubters so far, but your opponents going forward have won JUST as many playoff games as you, and they're hungry for a shot at that big trophy and their name forever enshrined in the record books as the best darn team in the state! You're gonna need that same fire and passion!

Norwayne has restored state-wide pride to the WCAL. This conference plays as good football as any conference out there, and it's been awhile since anyone from elsewhere in the state REALLY got to see it. They've taken the talent from this conference and they've lifted it up to tell the state of Ohio that the way we play football in the WCAL is as good as anyone, and that the WCAL ... and especially this Norwayne team ... WILL be recognized for it!

I must say this: As a Smithie fan, I have never been more proud of a team not wearing emerald green on gameday. This team plays with heart, and when it has been down late, it shows incredible resolve and mental toughness. This team deserves where it is, but it cannot be content with where it is. This can't be good enough, so I leave the Norwayne Bobcat football team with my favorite football video (the inspiration for my signature) ... appropriate, given that there are only 4 teams in all of D4 that are still playing.

Absolutely. And if Hillsdale has made it in over Smithville, I would have been the same for them.

Once the dust of Week 10 settles, and we get to see which 32 teams are left standing in each division, if they are WCAL teams, they become my team. In a way, they represent the kind of play that is done in the Wayne County Athletic League, so in a way, they represent every team in it, win or lose. In Week 11, I wasn't as high on the Norwayne train, because there were still teams playing, my Smithies being among them. After that, it becomes WCAL teams. Then Wayne County teams, if still in (Orrville, Triway, or Wooster).

Moreover, this Norwayne team is historic in nature. Up until now, the only WCAL teams to ever win a regional championship (at least to my knowledge) wore a big green 'S' on their helmets. This is a breakthrough for the WCAL. We now have 2 teams in the record books as having been regional champs ... and bringing that kind of recognition back to the WCAL is something ANY fan can, and should, be proud of.

That was the long answer. The short answer is 'yes'.
