But don't forget, this is a down year for the WCAL. ;)

In retrospect, the fact that people actually thought that seems pretty funny. :D

I'd still debate that it was down, but it's a mute point now. :p The Bobcats are playing excellent football right now and anything can happen.

O-Trap...no other WCAL team not wearing a big green 'S' has been a regional champ? Really? The Golden Bears have been to the state semi-finals 3 times. Did you forget?

Congrats Bobcats!

i actually still do think its a down yr for the wcal as well - there were more "bad teams" than any time in my memory. That doesn't take away from the top and norwayne's incredible run so far.

definitely a DOWN year for the WCAL.

Norwayne however, is having a great year. Congrats to the Cats.

Saw a great game over in Mansfield last night, never thought I'd see Maty Mauk run his team to victory.
As usual, Miyagi showed up late and drunk. We didn't get to Arlin until the end of the 1st quarter and the place was pretty full. Instead of parking 2 miles away and paying 9 bucks to see 3/4 of a game, we parked at CVS, walked across Trimble road and watched the game against the fence for free. Last ones in and first ones out.

If you're a tightwad, or have that "they may not let us in because my friend is bombed out of his gourd" feeling, Arlin field is the place for you. Plenty of places to watch the game from and judging from the guys who brought chairs and had pizza & chinese delivered to the parking lot, alot of folks do it.

Normally, I'd rather pay and watch from the stands, but I must admit that rolling with Team Miyagi provided yet another new and interesting experience. Apologies to GoFalcs and OrrQB. We planned on looking up any OC guys in attendance but....Miyagi Mission Control (aka Miyagis phone) which contained all his contact info was dead and we weren't on the inside of the stadium.

Does anyone know where Mauk is going to further his football education next year?

Thanks, beast!

Well, we can still add another team to that list now, which is always cause for celebration!

Hey, when it comes to this kind of thing, the WCAL is the WCAL, and I wouldn't sell it short just to slight one team.

As I mentioned last week, we've had every single team in the playoffs at least once in the last 12 years, but it's nice to see a team making this kind of noise again.

I was just messing with you! I echo your sentiment...I was fully support area teams at the State level. Believe me....try being a Golden Bear wrestler and having the ENTIRE League Boo you at WCAL's and the whole AREA Boo you at Sectionals......BUT We BEARS Still hold our heads high and cheer for ALL AREA KIDS at the Sectional, District and State level (unless they are going against a Bear).

Cant wait to see a great Norwayne team playing Saturday night....Hopefully moving onto to the State Finals!!!

I was at the Kenton/Hartley game last night and those are 2 great football teams. I think Kenton is as good as any team in the state in any division period. THey look like a D1 team out there playing. They have size, strength, and amazing speed. The only team that can be Kenton is Kenton. That Maty Mauk is probably the best HS football player I have ever seen in person. He probably had what he would consider an off night last night but he goes 100 mph all the time. This team is on another level. With all that being said Norwayne is giving Wayne county a great ride. Keep it up and good luck next week!

If you thought that team was great last night, you should've seen his older brother Ben play back in 01-02.....those teams were much better at every position than the Kenton team I saw last night. But Kenton is a very good team this year and will give anyone problems.

As a member of a regional champion Golden Bear team, I have to say O-Traps dissing, and or lack of knowledge, of our 3 regional titles is upsetting!

poor Waynedale,

bracketgate was cheating, forfeitgate wasn't....and the OHSAA picks on us for no reason:laugh:

Hopefully the 35-40 Football & Wrestling championship trophies will help to dry your tears.

Just wasn't thinking clearly, as I did know about the 1997 team. And it was more red colored lenses last night.

Mea culpa.
