Also true.

I was meaning that MSNBC was the joke of cable news, not just Olbermann. In other words, Comcast is probably wanting an image change.revgat;647873 wrote:I would argue that Beck is the biggest joke in cable news. Olbermann is trash though.

But, bring Beck into if ya want to, I don't mind because it doesn't matter in this case.

I can see Olberdouche getting his job back at ESPN along side Mark May with a new show called, "Crack A Nut" with the sole premise designed around pissing off rabid Ohio State fans.
I guess he thinks since his program was the highest rated MSNBC broadcast, he was worthy of a few more pesos. The problem is his program is ranked something like 14th in cable news programming.....way, way behind any Fox News offerings. The word inside MSNBC is that Keith Olbermann, who'd been negotiating his out with one year left on his contract, can't move to another cable/broadcast news channel right away, so he may be "on ice" for some time. On the other hand, he could go back into sports talk.

MSNBC was OK with pitiful ratings because their guys were in control in DC, they didn't believe the redneck hillbilly clingers were going to be more than just a burp on Nancy's face lift, and they really felt the country was now leaning left and their ratings would indeed return. No need to panic, they thought....and they thought poorly. Turns out the new owners, Comcast, happen to actually read ratings reports and have made the decision to try to turn a profit and get ratings back.
There's a reason outfits like Air America have failed and people don't listen to KO, the Mr. Ed Show, Matthews and Madcow.

They're all bad for everyone. Beck, O'Reilly, Palin, etc make it so that no one with even a slight liberal thought train will pay any attention to even the most logical conservative arguments. Same thing goes with Olbermann, Maddow, etc and conservatives paying attention to even the best liberal ideas.ccrunner609;648107 wrote:Jersey Shore crew would probably do a better job on political commentary then all of these hacks.
To be more accurate, depending on one's political point of view, they're all bad for someone.I Wear Pants;648816 wrote:They're all bad for everyone. And if while reading this the thought goes through your mind "yeah right there are no good liberal/conservative ideas" then you're probably an idiot.

Conservative or liberal these commentators appeal to somebody or they wouldn't be in business. The fact that we can air our views and reasonably coexist is testimony to the freedoms granted us in this great nation.
When it comes to hearing the slight liberal thought, please keep in mind that for decades that's ALL we heard. The fact that Fox News and talk radio exist and are so successful shows that a lot of people are tired of hearing the liberal side of the political discourse which, of course, pisses off the left because liberals once held a virtual monopoly on everything in the media and the entertainment industry.
It's when some folks who don't like to hear what the opposition is saying and then attempt to silence those views that things get a little ugly. I think it's fair to say that the left does the lion's share of attempting to muzzle opposing speech as demonstrated by the absurd accusations of "inflammatory right-wing rhetoric" immediately after Congresswoman Giffords was shot by a lone lunatic. Oh, and let's not forget the lame arguments to resurrect the so-called "Fairness" Doctrine.
This. It's pointless to watch either Fox or MSNBC after 8 when the actual news stops and the commentary garbage pollutes the airwaves.ptown_trojans_1;648982 wrote:Sure, that may be the case people want to hear other crap, but it still does not help. Both Fox and MSNBC are garbage 8pm and after. They are just talking points spewing for one side and against another. No one I work with or know in the policy community watches or listens to them. No one cares for them because they know it's just awful stuff with no substance.

For the record I don't either. But that wasn't my point....and you know it. The fact is even without the "after 8PM" clause, Fox News appeals to conservatives and all the rest of the "mainstream" media appeals to liberals. It's simply a GOOD thing to have choice for a change.ptown_trojans_1;648982 wrote:Sure, that may be the case people want to hear other crap, but it still does not help.
