Hey then did nothing to learn and appreciate the history of one of the most storied programs in the country and completely alienated the alumni base and did little to bring them back on board. He then had current and former players out him for breaking NCAA rules for which he was then punished for. These are all reasons why programs might be just as weary of hiring him as they should be of hiring Leach.
Agree that he has baggage. It is going to be tough for him to get any job other than a down and out program that hopes his type of offense will sell some tickets and win a few more games than they're used to.
But, I'm not sure your facts are facts regarding the WVU situation. I don't ever remember a public acceptance of the Alabama job. It was being widely reported, but he never said it, as far as I remember. Also, he
didn't get everything that was promised to him from WVU. You can argue that they weren't given enough time to produce some of the things (the stadium renovations happened within a year after he left), but at the time he left, he hadn't been provided everything that was agreed on. There were bad characters on both sides of that mess.
Now, since then he hasn't done anything to make anyone believe in him and Michigan was a colossal failure so even if the perception is slightly off about his departure from WVU, the damage is done and probably irreparable for him.
