I was bored and wanted to see what everyone else thought about this.

So, what say you?

I personally think he will end up in either the ACC or back in the Big East. As for specific teams, I'm not exactly sure since I don't know which coaches are on the hot seat.

I could see him going back to Clemson in the long run.

I personally think he lands at a bigger Non AQ school (Maybe a MAC School or CUSA) at first but eventually moves back up.

Clemson should hire him as their head coach. Dabo Swinney is a horrible head coach

Rich Rod will get a job next season either as a HC or possibly as an OC at a BCS AQ school. He is that good of an offensive mind. Clemson would be a strong possibility for him as that seems to likely open in the near future. I don't see him going out west so the ACC seems like a strong possibility.

I think he sits out a year (mainly because he was fired so late, had he been fired after the OSU game he would have already been hired somewhere), then ends up at a BCS school next year.

I don't know if we would hire him again at Clemson with the baggage and NCAA stuff he got into at Michigan. Job may be open next year but who knows. Our recruiting class is ridiculous this year, and I really like our new O coordinator, so we will see.

I see Clemson on the horizon. As mentioned above, Dabo has no business being a head coach, there is a big part of the fanbase that still love Rich-Rod and of course there is the history there with him.

If Clemson underperforms again, Dabo's out. They need someone.

If? More like "when". That's what Clemson does.

We already know he is sitting out a year. Which is too bad. Not only did David Brandon fuck up "the process" for Michigan, he did so for Rich. There were some good HC openings this year that suited him very well, but he was too late to the game.

I also see him in the Big East or ACC if there is an opening. And please don't tell me Clemson wouldn't entertain the idea. The only NCAA baggage he has is some extra stretching time.

In a stunning move Eastern Michigan fires there coach and hires Rich Rod. Who goes into the Big House and beats M*ch*gan next season.

I am pretty close to the Clemson pulse and I am just saying people don't like the guy here, we would rather hire someone else without all the baggage (and losing). We like playing defense here, not the bullshit 335 stack rich rod seems so enamored with. Plus, if (maybe when) Dabo is out, people will want all remnants of the Bowden era gone, not picking up one of the guys he came here with.

Is Rich Rod more attractive than Mike Leach?

I would say yes just because of the way they left their last positions. Rich Rodriguez wasn't fired for possibly abusing his players, he just couldn't get the defense figured out to make us successful. Mike Leach is attractive, but would you want to play for a guy who might lock you in a tool shed?

I really don't think Leach did that, but it's hard to shake that off of your luggage.

Clemson was a top 15 defense in Scoring and in other categories. We held Cam Newton to under 100 rush yards (not a common thing on the season). Our Defensive end led the nation in sacks and tackles for loss. Last season our FS led the nation in passes intercepted. 19th in total defense. 9th in total TDs allowed. 17th in opponent 1st downs. We only lost 1 game by more than 5 points. I know we lost a lot, but it was almost entirely because of offense and red zone scoring (117th ranked RZ scoring).

So Yes, you are missing something. Clemson's defense was very very good.

1 TCU 13 20 6 18 0 0 156 12.0
2 Boise State 13 22 5 19 0 0 166 12.8
3 West Virginia 13 17 19 17 0 0 176 13.5
3 Alabama 13 19 14 18 1 0 176 13.5
5 Ohio State 13 22 10 20 1 1 186 14.3
6 Missouri 13 26 10 21 1 0 209 16.1
7 Iowa 13 27 11 26 0 0 221 17.0
8 UCF 14 31 8 30 0 0 240 17.1
9 Stanford 13 29 7 27 1 1 226 17.4
9 Nebraska 14 26 20 25 0 1 243 17.4
11 LSU 13 31 7 28 1 0 237 18.2
12 Oregon 13 27 17 24 1 2 243 18.7
13 Clemson 13 27 19 25 0 0 244 18.8

I think Leach has a few screws loose in the head, and I agree with you. But both won by teaching offense and scoring points. Leach had success at Texas Tech, which I think is more difficult than having success at WVU.

I ask because I don't know why Leach can't find a job. Not sure if he is turning them down or what, but I thought for sure he would land a good job this year.

I would take Leach in a heartbeat. I think most believe Craig James' son is a douche and that Leach actually did nothing wrong in that situation.

Rich Rod screwed his Alma Mater and then couldn't win at a traditional power like Michigan. That to me shows he isn't a great coach and has questionable decision making. He has never been known for defense and his teams always seem to be soft. I feel like Leach is smart enough to hire a D-coordinator that actually runs a defense rather than insisting on a ridiculous Defensive scheme (335 stack). Leach is an offensive genius and won at Texas Tech, which is amazing. He was competing hard with basically 3 star and 2 star talent. It is HARD to recruit kids to play in Lubbock. Lubbock sucks. Hard.

I like the spread and the hurry up, but Rich Rod seems to only be as good as his QB is fast. Leach used different QBs to perfection in his offenses. Look at his tenures at Kentucky and Oklahoma as O coordinator; he put up video game numbers at these schools.

PLUS, Rich Rod and Clemson were sort of icy when he left us, not because of performance, but because of his personality. This is also a huge problem with Leach and is honestly why I don't think we would hire either guy, but I personally prefer Leach to RRod.
