For the most part BHO's nerdy self and demeanor has always been, we can all just get along and that is why the militant left is so dissatisfied with him. BHO has always preached unity...from his acceptance speech when he said something to the effect of "if I haven't won you over yet I will listen and I'll be your president too." A week later the Weekly Standard published piece wherein the title was something about "The Unity Nonsense." That's fine if you don't want to unite. Many libs don't want to unite with conservatives but that has always been Barry's MO since day 1, despite how misguided it may or may not be. I'm telling you. Barry may be unfit to lead, he may be a socialist in his heart of hearts but above all else he is a nerdy people pleaser.

If you'd like to compare statements he's made throughout his public life between the divisive kind you cite and the more pleasant ones imagining that conservatives and liberals could find common ground be my guest. BHO is the anti-Bush and Reagan. President Reagan told us it was a time for choosing. President Bush told us we could either be with him or against him. BHO says "In a country as diverse as ours, there will always be passionate arguments about how we draw the line when it comes to government action. That is how our democracy works. But our democracy might work a bit better if we recognized that all of us possess values that are worthy of respect: That is not what the average modern liberal or conservative believes. Bill Maher does not respect conservative worldviews. Rush Limbaugh doesn't respect liberal worldviews.
Now look, I'm not saying one or the other approach is better but there is a clear difference in the way that BHO governs from conservative icons. RR and GWB were deontological in their approach and their goal was to persuade people toward their way. BHO has sacrificed core principles that he outlined on his campaign on nearly every domestic policy action that took place in the last two years...and he didn't have to because he could have gone to reconciliation before crunch time but he didn't. Liberals are unhappy with him because he didn't fight for their causes the way a RR or GWB would for conservativism.
I know your bias against and dislike for the socialist you believe him to be is strong but just take a look at real genuine liberals out there one of these days. They don't have the same image of him that you have. Just read a Paul Krugman article, the liberal flame thrower...he's essentially given up on him and is awaiting President Palin.
There's alot of stuff here for me to say, so I'm gonna try to keep it as short as possible, due to context of the thread, and hopefully it will still make sense lol
First of all, I don't care TODAY about what Bush and Reagan might or might not have done, it has no relevancy. What President Obama has or more to the point HASN'T done is against alot of your own argument. Everything that I bolded flies in the face of your description of him being some puppy loving nerdy unifier. Everything. In fact, it gives the trots to the whole damn concept of his "pacifist" domestic agenda.
How does that answer the specific events that I pointed out? I don't think it does. Perhaps if you took the time and drew me pictures it might make me get it, I dunno.
Secondly, you're absolutely right, to a certain extent, about my dislike and bias against President Obama. I didn't care too much for his politics to begin with, and didn't vote for him and won't vote for him in '12.
My vehemence against him was brought about by his own actions, his own words, and his own attitude. Nothing can trump those items in my own mind.
Thirdly, and some of this is repetitive; When you have a sitting President of the United States actively spewing as much political vitriol as any flunkie on the streets, it's kinda damn hard to claim he's some great domestic political unifier, much less try to persuade others of that notion. If you want to believe that about him, fine. But I do have eyes that see and ears that hear and a memory that works halfway decent (sometimes lol), so we'll just leave it at that.
Lastly; When Calderon came here and spewed out his rubbish, President Obama didn't even blink. In fact, Obama's political democrats gave him a standing ovation. At the very least Obama could have made some comments, couched passively enough, to at least tell the American people he didn't agree with what was said against us - but he didn't. While his nuts were sucking up behind his belly button, he could have used that moment to "unify" the American people in a show of national pride, however small the gesture might have been.
We've got average American citizens hanging up laundry in their own back yard, minding their own business, being shot and killed by illegal mexicans in drug cartels, and the Obama administration wants to sue Arizona.
So yeah, I think it's ridiculous and will continue to do so until OBAMA proves me wrong.
