As for the inflammatory rhetoric which seemingly permeates the internet and all cable news programs, I feel that it does need to be tempered to some degree. We see it here all the time. I'm guilty of saying offensive things, as are many of us, and I'm certain that there are other sites with much more offensive things being posted. For that I feel that the very nature of these sites is partially to blame, because of the relative anonymity of those posting. I would like to think that if we were all sitting around a table having a discussion the talk would be more civil.

The headlines aren't reporting it. Since the shooting those stations have blamed Palin, Limbaugh, etc....hell the fucking Sheriff even called Rush out by name. Those were the headlines for the last 3 days. Give me a break. Is no one responsible for their own actions anymore...and why not blame video games, why the "right"? Will there be apologies? Hell no, they got their shock headlines and thats all they care about.

They ran with this full tilt boogie, wanting to further demonize Palin and conservatives for what happened. They were just sure that had to be the case, so they molded all of their stories and commentary around it.

When this first happened, I immediately predicted it would turn out to be some guy off his medication or in need of meds who hadn't been appropriately diagnosed and treated. If I can see the obvious, why couldn't the members of the media at least take a look down THAT road before going off on their collective tangents?

Why? Because they don't have ethics, anymore. They simply don't care if they can damage publicly people and organizations with whom they disagree (i.e. anything or anyone that's conservative).

People who claim there is no media bias can't possible believe that after yet another clear example to the contrary.

I'm glad no one has (yet) blamed video games for this. Anytime someone does on either side of the aisle I want to punch them in the throat a lot.
But also that interview was on Good Morning America which is a pretty big headline.

GMA reaches a decent audience, but most Americans are off to work by the time their stuff airs.

I wouldn't go far to say immediately I predicted that, but when it was reported that he was 22 years old anyone with half a brain should have figured it out. How many 22 year olds go to tea parties? Or vote Republican? Or even care about politics?

The two worst offenders are the sheriff for pulling a complete rush to judgment, and Paul Krugman who not only started the "mainstream media" frenzy, but doubled down with more idiocy once the truth was revealed.

Dishonorable mention to Peter King (the SI writer, not the Congressman who deserves flack as well) for being so stupid to quote the sheriff's comments in his MMQB column with the token "it isn't political" hedge. He's correct. It wasn't political, just the opportunists made it political.

I take comfort in the fact that more and more Americans are finally opening their eyes to the propaganda and largely leftist political bias that pervades the so-called "mainstream" media. The capitalization of this tragedy to point fingers at Palin, talk radio, etc. is a disgusting opportunistic reaction by the left at the results of the November election. There's no doubt in my mind about that.

FWIW, there is the memorial service starting soon, in which state, local and federal officials, including the President will speak.

And the difference, duration, and scopes of the attacks are HEAVILY against Palin as compared to Obama. There's no way I can believe that any of us on this forum thinks it's comparable - with a straight face. No way.

My impressions:
1. This is being treated as a pep rally for Obama, not a memorial service. Maybe I misunderstood the intention, but I've NEVER heard cheering and screaming for joy at memorial services...except for one....Paul Wellstone.
2. Nice speech, Obama, about the victims and the heros.
3. Speaking of heros, it would be REAL NICE if the press would focus on people like Daniel Hernandez, who saved Giffords' life. Or the 2 men that tackled the shooter. Or the Petite Patricia lady who took away Loughner's magazine. Let's hear about the HEROS and not Rush, Sean, Glenn, Sarah and every other NON-ISSUE in this story. I'd like to read much more about heros and less about murdering psychotics.

I'm kind of disapointed in this right now....maybe because I was expecting more of a President Reagan Challenger speech rather than a pep rally. I just don't get what's going on right now with this speech. Is it a eulogy, a pep rally, a memorial service, all of them. He did throw in the gun control, lack of mental health care political argument. I'm just confused. I was really hoping he'd come out and give a heartfelt 3 or 4 minute speech to pull this country together...guess not.

This is the weirdest memorial service I've watched since Wellstone's...waiting for cheerleaders to run through with pompoms or something. Wrap this shit up, Bam, I want to see Paula Abdul.
