Yeah, I think Whitner has expressed interest in playing for the Browns before plus he played for Jauron's defense in Buffalo. Normally, I'm not going to throw how the "hometown guy" thing, especially with this regime, but there is a tie between Jauron & Whitner in this case.

The thing is that Whitner is a SS along with Ward who is a SS. I dont think either could move over to FS effectively. That being said, Elam wasn't/isnt much of a FS either and I think Whitner is a tremendous talent. You win with Talent in the NFL and I'm still not sold on Ward staying heathy, he certainly didn't prove he can in college. I'd have no issues bringing him in.

Ward can play FS or SS but with the way he played last year I might be afraid to move him to FS.

As a Browns fan you gotta love the leadership qualities in this kid. Read a comment by him or another player where they said '5-11 just isn't good enough." I think they are hungry....just hope it translates to the field....

Good news on his shoulder being 100%. And he does have great leadership abilities.

I had no idea that his shoulder was still an issue last season. I'm pretty sure at one point last season perhaps in TC he said his shoulder was fine and back to normal.

I don't think he said it was fine. I thought he said it shouldn't be an issue, or that he could play with it not being 100%.

I remember him being somewhat evasive about his shoulder (don't have a link) and wondered if it might not still be an issue. I know it took a helluva injury to keep him out of that title game against 'Bama.

As for the playbook...what would prevent a player from having gotten it legally and copying it during the time they had it? Is there a rule that says you can't do that, too?

If so, it's a dumb rule.

Nope no rule against players distributing playbooks, however remember that playbooks are position specific.

That may be true, but I feel like Colt's quarterback playbook probably has the receiver's routes in them....therefore it can be used as a teaching tool.

The QB playbook has to be the most revealing of all playbooks.

High school's do more specializing because a lot of kids can't learn or remember for that matter everything everyone is doing....so they just have position specific playbooks.

College playbooks are very in-depth and provide everything about the offense. So in theory every player should know what everyone is doing on every play (doesn't happen though as much as you like, personal experience...I don't know how many times I had to tell my RB what the hell he was suppose to be doing)

NFL playbooks are so in-depth you know where everyone will be, at what time, and how they are going to get there. The playbook is so thick that it usually comes in volumes ie: passing offense, running offense, 2 minute, clock management etc....trust me Colt knows what he is doing and is most likely just doing 7 on 7 type work with his receivers getting timing down, and all the passing patterns.

I really think Greg Little will be a pretty good wide receiver. Looks like he can break tackles on one-on-one and is a pretty physical blocker. Hopefully Massaquoi and Robiskie can become more reliable this year and be able to get Little matched up by himself...I really think he will help out this offense a great deal. Hopefully Hillis keeps running the way he did last year only try not to fumble as much. He and Hardesty are good receivers out of the backfield too. So I think they will be much better on offense than they were last year.

Browns had Little rated right with Jones and Green just thought they were getting a similar player much later. Time will tell. I will say the dude has a little "diva' about him which I don't like after the Braylon Edwards fiasco.

Eh....all receivers have a little bit of "diva" in them which is what makes them receivers. The guy did sit out an entire year so I'd have to believe that the experience humbled him some and he's eager to get back on the field. As long as he doesn't have Braylon's hands I'm ok with a little brashness.

My biggest issue is that I've heard he has some sort of "sense of entitlement." Accomplish something on the field FIRST, buddy. You just sat out a year.

I thought what was most impressive about Little was his ability to go up in traffic and get the ball.

What I like most about Little is that he's a converted RB, so that leads me to believe he's going to be able to get some YAC.

And this was a major reason they were high on him. Holmgren used the term "home run hitter" prior to the draft in regard to the type of offensive playmaker/receiver they needed. Too many people construe "home run hitter' to mean "deep threat" ala AJ Green. That term can also apply to a guy who can snag a short pass and take it to the house.
