APRedskins running back James Davis walked out of training camp last week because he was upset with his spot on the depth chart, leading to coach Mike Shanahan saying Davis was retired. Whatever Davis’s status, he’s not the Redskins’ problem anymore.

The Redskins have waived Davis, officially ending his tenure with the team.

Any team that wants Davis can claim him on waivers, but it’s hard to see why any team would want him. Football coaches like players who respond to being at the bottom of the depth chart by working hard, not by quitting.

And so Davis is likely done in the NFL, at the age of 25.

QQ

Was James Davis the guy who a couple years looked good early in the preseason, but then got hurt and vanished into the void?

Ugggh...why does this sound like Jim Thome?

“I’ve always loved playing for the Browns,” Thomas said. “I love the fans. I love the city. I really see myself as a big member of the organization, and I really enjoy that. So certainly I would like to stay here. But you never know what’s gonna happen in the NFL. It’s a crazy league and anything could happen.”

And there's some of the money we didn't spend in free agency. Score one for the front office.

I would pretty much agree on all of the reasons given...as long as the starters on both sides of the ball stay healthy, they could surprise some people.

I agree with everything on there except for I still don't really love the wide receiver situation. If the Browns didn't play in such a tough division I could definitely see them being a potential surprise playoff team. But beating out the Ravens and/or Steelers will be tough. Doable, but tough.

Like it said, their first half of the schedule is where there can win some games before they get to play BAL and PITT 4 out of the 5 final games...and maybe they could steal a win. It kinda sucks that their bye is so early in they season bc they will need it around week 10-11. Even if they would happen to finish 8-8 I think people would be pleased with that.

Yup. If they had a winning season and were competitive I would be happy. Baby steps.
