I wish I could answer that question... Better yet, I wish we can make the new high school a real deal in the near future... The top of Coal Hill is all I have ever heard for a location, but I can't say for sure it would be built there.
One thing is for sure though... We will get the new High School not to terribly long from now because the believers and the supporters are starting to out number the naysayers. The first grads of IC are starting to have their children enter those same halls they walked and they understand why the school is needed. Its only a matter of time, education is worth the price.

There on break until next week. I believe there's a passing scrimmage on July 14 against Catholic Central. Not sure of time or place. If it's at Central, then I'm sure it'll be a closed scrimmage again. They must have some big secrets over there!

As for Toronto, That info I got came from a family member of my girlfriend who is a booster for T-town. I know the female numbers for the senior class are going to be down this year... The 15 girls didn't include the ones attending the JVS.
Smithfield was the major rival for Wintersville in the early years 1936-1959. They played every year during that stretch with Wintersville holding a 12-10-2 edge. They usually played the last week of the season and many times on Veterans Day, even if it was during the week.
Steubenville CC - this rivalry lasted 1967-1992, with Wintersville posting a 15-10-1 record. Average ppg for the games were 13 for Wintersville, 11 for Central. Always a good game.
Steubenville Big Red - played 1943, 1979-1987, with Steubenville holding a 2-9 record. Seven games were decided by 8 points or less. *Wintersville posted a 2-0-1 record vs the Big Red Reserves 1947-49. They were regular season games for the Warriors.
Brooke - played every year 1969-1992, with the Warriors posting an 11-13 record. Wintersville lost the last 7 games of the series.
JU - this was more of a backyard game than a rivalry, with Wintersville dominating the series 26-3-1. The schools played from 1940-69. Wintersville shutout JU 14 times.
Oddly enought, Wintersville and Wayne never played football. I believe they played other sports though.

Talking about old defunct shools...two the better nicknames were Dillonvale Night Riders and Follansbee Blue Wave. Wayne Wolves was pretty good too.

There is much history between Smithfield and Wintersville. One Smithfield player during the last years of their rivalry, came to Creek as Superintendent. Gene Watkins was a fine lineman for Smithfield and went on to play at Ohio State. I believe he won a national championship while there. It would be nice to see Buckeye Local and Creek become the heated rivalry that their predecessors had.
