Never know . maybe in a few years . I dont think the Buckeye 8 will last forever . these confrences never do and if Bellaire or Edison school districts fail as well as Union Local ,which in the next 10 years or so I think a few districts will fail . You just never know what tommarrow brings . Especially in this valley

I wouldn't be suprised if one day there was a Jefferson County school if things keep going the way they are going. I also think that the local schools should hire one Jefferson County Superintendent then each school could say chip in 10-15,000 each instead of the 80,000+ they pay a year.

There are a bunch of schools not doing so well in this area... I will give credit to Steubenville for operating on budget yearly, but you have to give Creek credit also... The consolidation didn't solve the issues that were building at both schools and the problems continued to get worse, but that role is starting to reverse now and Creek is one of the more "stable" schools in the area. We are even building a new Jr. High thanks to the voters finally getting on board with us.

Toronto is going to struggle big time this year... I hear there are less than 15 females in the senior class.Thinthickbigred;807799 wrote:I see your district is doing better and Toronto's but a few others are going to fail sooner or later ...

if thats 9-12 thats an avg of 22 girls per class, so it would be possible for there to be only 15 girls in the senior class.

Not that I am aware of for Mingo and Wintersville, but I do know a few people that have kept records of both schools.
As for Toronto, That info I got came from a family member of my girlfriend who is a booster for T-town. I know the female numbers for the senior class are going to be down this year... The 15 girls didn't include the ones attending the JVS.

A quick note...
I have gotten a few questions about what happened to the chop website... I wanted to clear it up a bit...
The Chop is still around, it just in limbo at the moment. The ownership of the domain name expired and there was a flaw in the "back-up plan" that would ensure that www.reskinschop.com stayed with its current owner. Since the expiration, a company bought the domain name and is asking a fortune of money to get it back. Things are being looked into, but for now it seems that we will no longer be able to have a www.redskins.com, but instead it will most likely be www.redskinschop.org. While the current owner works out the details, the site will remain down but should be back up in the near future...

Creek is attending the Washington and Jefferson 7 on 7 scrimmage today. They beat Ambridge in the first game 3-2. It was 3-0 with the starters in. The second game against Ringgold went to 5 overtimes, with Creek coming out on top! More to follow...

Creek beat Oak Glen in the first round, 4-2. They have to play a talented Gateway team in the next round.

I opened another page about Jefferson county football teams that are no longer and I know there were a whole bunch of schools at one time and maybe some of you IC guys could respnd on that thread ..For instance didnt Wintersville used to be rivals with Wayn HS in the 40's and 50's the same building in Bloomingdale that houses one of your elementary schools.. If any of you have any knowledge of schools from the past I am interested in hearing some stories you might have or have handed down to you ... It doesnt have to be about IC district schools It could be Smithfield JU or any Jefferson county schools.. ITs interesting to me since we have so many fewer schools these days ...thanks

I believe you are correct about Wintersville and Wayne being rivals. Wayne and Unionport consolidated into Wintersville some many years ago.

Creek lost to Gateway, 5-4. They played a great game. We ended up 3-2 for the scrimmage with loses to the number 1 seed University and the number 2 seed Gateway. Mike Furda had some great catches, as did Young and Yeater. Kemp was very accurate with the throws. He didn't throw a single interception. Can't wait for the season to start! FYI, Linsly was there also and were beaten in the first round by Washington High.

How was Woodson throwing it (Gateway) and did they work that huge TE Conway into the routes? What was the attendance like?

He threw the ball well. Very accurate. They did have a huge TE that played. I believe Coach DeAngelo said there were 36 teams there, although some schools brought 2 teams. There were about 18 to 20 'A' teams competing. Some of the teams were Gateway, Trinity, Bethal Park, Brooke, Linsly, Oak Glen, South Lafayette, Ringgold, Ambridge, Washington, Norwin, McKeesport, and University.
