I'll say one thing: These players have a lot more self-control than I do. I know he was down hurt and had to be helped off the field, but if I was running (out of bounds or not) and a damn coach of all people tripped me, I'd be going after someone. I know I know, internet tough guy. But that was a cheap shot that could have hurt someone a lot worse than it did.

So would this debunk mhs95_06's friend's theory that the Jets as a whole intended for this coach to do this? I guess they could say they're fining/suspending for PR purposes then behind the scenes who knows what is said.

This is what I have heard as well. The only problem is that Alosi took it a step too far by sticking out his knee just enough to clip the guy. I have no doubt that the guys were positioned there on purpose but it just to get in the gunners way for running illegally OB. He'd already been flagged once yet kept doing it. I think Alosi should be fired but the gunner does deserve some of the blame.

I dont know about the gunner being blamed. It was a cheap shot. It isnt the Jets job to enforce the rules. If the gunner is constantly running out of bounds blame the refs. A few 15 yard penalties and he stops pretty quickly. This falls on Alosi for sticking out the knee and the refs for allowing it to get to that point (if true, I dont know if he actually ran OB a lot).

I'm not trying to downplay what Alosi did. He should be fired for it. It was obviously cheap. But, I have no problem with Westhoff positioning the staff there. Unfortunately the dumbest guy was at the end and did something retarded.

Isn't there a white line that the players and staff are supposed to stand behind? I am pretty sure when I played HS football there was such a line and rule, but it was one of those rules that never was really enforced.

Yeah I know. I just dont think the gunner did anything wrong..afterall, "if you aint cheatin', you aint tryin'". I dont think the coaches/players were in the wrong either OTHER than the knee being stuck out. Everything was fine in my book until he purposefully tripped him.

The strength coach ordered 5 inactive players to form the wall with him. GM Mike Tanenbaum confirms Sal has acknowledged this. The suspension for the rest of the year has been reworded...suspended indefinateyl!!

I agree with Steve Tasker that it is not so much out of the ordinary, and was way over reacted to. I don't think the penalty for the coach who stuck his knee out should get any more penalty than a gunner who purposely goes out of bounds to take advantage. Both should get 15 yd personal foul penalties for unsportsmanlike conduct and that should be the end of it for both sides.

I think you guys are retarded for trying to say Carroll was blatantly cheating by running OOB.

First off if you watch the "trip" video you'll see that the Jets players forced him out. This is legal, and he has a right to run down the sideline as long as he makes an effort to come back in bounds, which he was doing when he got tripped. The fact is the Jets are too stupid to keep him in bounds because once he got outside of them, he's much faster and just blew by down the sidelines. Keep him in bounds where you can keep chipping and blocking him and he can't get downfield.

Secondly the penalty Carroll got caught for was his fault, but it wasn't for running out of bounds, it was for not trying to come back in bounds right away. If you look at the trip video you'll see the ref drop his hat, therefore you know that the ref knows he's OOB and is watching to see him come back in play.

trying to put any blame on the player for trying to make a play in a close game and getting side swiped by some fuckhead is retarded. if this had been a high school game we'd all be up in arms about this horse shit but since it's pro and you may or may not like the teams, it seems a lot of people are trying to justify it or split the blame. fuck that, alosi is a fuckhead and i hope crowder follows through with breaking his leg someday (even though i doubt it because IMO crowder is a puss).
